Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers – Andrew Wiggins injury update

Oddsmakers have moved the Golden State Warriors from 2.5-point underdogs to +3 on Friday morning with forward Andrew Wiggins officially questionable for tonight’s Game 6 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Wiggins reportedly suffered a rib cartilage fracture in Game 5’s victory, cutting L.A.’s series lead to 3-2.

Wiggins came up huge on Wednesday, scoring 25 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out five assists in 36 minutes of work, all while guarding LeBron James at the other end. He finished plus-16 in plus/minus, too.

“This was the best game Wiggs has played since he’s been back over, I guess, three weeks or so now,” coach Steve Kerr told reporters. “Just the way he attacked, the way he got to the rim. That adds another dimension to our attack.”

It appeared like Wiggins did play three more minutes after he suffered the injury in a collision with James in the fourth quarter, but this doesn’t bode well for the Warriors. James is a shark that will smell blood in the water whether Wiggins is on the floor or not. Consider yourself lucky if you were able to get this line at Lakers -2.5, but it may continue to inflate if Wiggins is confirmed out.

Florida Panthers at Toronto Maple Leafs – Auston Matthews to fire away

The Toronto Maple Leafs head into tonight’s Game 5 against the Florida Panthers facing elimination again as they trail 3-1 in the series but they may not be ready to dust off the golf clubs just yet. Oddsmakers have the Leafs as -178 favourites to win tonight although they obviously have a long way to go at +341 to win the series.

Scottie Scheffler went into this week’s tournament as one of the bigger favourites we’ve seen in a long time at around +325 and after going 7-under yesterday, he’s now down to +200 to win the whole thing. With a ton of low scores on the board there just isn’t much value there, but what about Scheffler winning his group on Thursday at -116? Scheffler is a player who usually performs better when he’s in a good group and he has that with Kyoung-Hoon Lee (+341) and Jason Day (+206).
