Denver Nuggets vs. San Antonio Spurs Prediction, NBA Odds

The San Antonio Spurs are trailblazing to the playoffs. They’ve won 15 of 16 games since the start of February, including five straight going into Thursday’s home contest against the Denver Nuggets at 9 p.m. ET.

Victor Wembanyama and company have won nine straight at home, where they are currently 4-0 on a six-game homestand. They haven’t just beaten slouches either. San Antonio beat one of the Eastern Conference’s finest, Boston, on Tuesday, 125-116. Wembanyama had 39 points and 11 rebounds, and De’Aaron Fox added 25 points and nine assists.

The Spurs face a Nuggets team floundering a bit. They are just 15-14 in their past 29 games, including 5-6 since the All-Star break, but they’re starting to get back their entire starting lineup just in time for the postseason.

San Antonio is a 5.5-point favourite to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 239.5.

Nuggets vs. Spurs NBA Betting Odds

Denver is 22-13 straight up and against the spread on the road. However, they are just 9-12 straight up as a dog and 1-5 ATS in their last six meetings with the Spurs.

San Antonio is 4-1 ATS in its last five games. The Spurs are 37-11 straight up as the favourite.

The Nuggets have played to the Over in each of their past nine road games, while the Over has cashed in three straight games for the Spurs. Although both squads have put up points recently, five of the previous seven meetings between these squads have gone Under.

Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets pounded Houston at home on Wednesday, 129-93. Jamal Murray had 30, Nikola Jokic posted his 25th triple-double of the season, and Christian Braun contributed 19 points as Denver won with its opening-night starting lineup for the first time since November.

Aaron Gordon is back after missing nearly seven weeks. In three games, the returns have been mixed. He had 23 points and 10 rebounds against OKC on Monday, but he combined to score just three points on 1-for-10 shooting in 43 minutes against the New York Knicks and the Rockets. Against Houston, he took just three shots in 22 minutes and missed all of them.

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs have very few concerns at the moment. However, Wembanyama is listed as questionable with right ankle soreness. His absence would obviously be a massive loss, especially since he leads the best defensive rebounding unit in the league. The Spurs average 35.2 defensive boards per game, and Wembanyama is responsible for 9.2 of them. He’s also averaging 33.3 points per game during this homestand.

Veteran reserve forward Harrison Barnes (10.2 PPG) is slated to miss his sixth straight game on Thursday. He is the only rotational player currently expected out for the Spurs.

NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Nuggets vs. Spurs?

Not having Wembanyama in the lineup would not be good. But the Spurs have already beaten Denver without him this season. San Antonio outlasted the Nuggets in November, 139-136. The Spurs played without Wemby and Stephon Castle, and Denver was without Gordon and Braun.  Murray had 37, and Jokic added 21 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds in that one. Devin Vassell paced the Spurs with 35 in the win.

Everything is going right for San Antonio right now, and even if Wembanyama cannot play, look for the good times to continue this evening. Take the Spurs, 126-119.
