Mavericks vs. Nets Prediction: NBA Odds, Point Spread
Even without their top scorer, Kevin Durant, the Nets have been terrorizing the NBA and have recently picked up wins over teams like the Suns, Clippers and Lakers. They’ll get a chance to add another name to their victim list when the Dallas Mavericks head to Brooklyn on Saturday night.
The Nets opened as 4-point favourites to win on the NBA odds with a total of 236.
NBA Point Spread and Betting Analysis
There’s not much love for Dallas, as 98 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors are taking Brooklyn in this game and 80 per cent are taking the Over at 236.
If you’ve been betting on Dallas to cover the spread this season, you’re likely not very happy. The Mavs are 13-18 against the spread overall and have covered in eight of 15 road games. Dallas has hit the Over in seven of their last 10 games.
Brooklyn has been a bettors dream lately. The Nets have covered in eight straight games and they are 18-16 ATS overall. A roster full of stars and a lack of attention to defence means high scoring games are nothing new to Brooklyn. The Nets have hit the Over in 14 of their last 20 games and five of their last six games against Dallas.
Dallas Mavericks
After a disappointing start to the season Dallas has won seven of their last 10 games. Keep an eye on the availability of Kristaps Porzingis. He’s been in and out of the lineup all season, but he has missed the last three games, which will likely make him a game-time decision here. In Porzingis’ absence, Luka Doncic has carried most of the offensive load. Doncic leads the team in points per game (28.5), rebounds (8.4) and assists (9). After giving up 22 turnovers as a team in Dallas’ 111-97 loss to the 76ers on Thursday, Doncic and the rest of the team know they’ll need to be better against Brooklyn. Doncic finished with just 19 points and shot 41 per cent from the field. He’s an MVP-calibre player so it will be interesting to see how he bounces back from a poor performance by his standards.
Brooklyn Nets
The Nets’ current eight game win streak last saw them blow out the Orlando Magic 129-92 on Thursday. With Kevin Durant missing the last seven games with a hamstring injury, Brooklyn has been getting it done by committee. The Nets had six different players hit double-digit points on Thursday with Kyrie Irving and James Harden combining for 47 points, 16 assists and 14 rebounds. Harden has been a big reason why the Nets have climbed to second place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Beard is averaging 24.9 points per game and a career-high 11.4 assists and 8.5 rebounds since joining Brooklyn. Playing against a defensively weak Dallas team, Harden could be primed for a big offensive night.
