New York Knicks vs. Detroit Pistons Game 6 Prediction, NBA Odds
The Pistons extended the series with an exciting 106-103 win in New York on Tuesday night, cutting the series lead to 3-2 but remain mired in a nine-game home losing streak in playoff action. The Knicks tallied a pair of wins in the Motor City earlier in the series, but saw those contests get decided by a combined margin of just three points.
The Pistons return home for Game 6 perched as slim 1.5-point favourites on the Thursday NBA odds but continue to trail as lengthy +375 underdogs on the NBA playoff series prices. The Knicks arrive in Detroit pegged as a +100 bet on Thursday’s NBA moneyline but remain -500 chalk to eventually win this series. The total for Game 6 is listed at 213.5.
Knicks vs. Pistons NBA Playoff Betting Odds
The Pistons eked out their second road win of the series on Tuesday night and could very well be leading this series were it not for a foul that went uncalled as time ran out in a 94-93 home loss in Game 4. To date, the Knicks have picked up the only home victory of this series with their decisive 123-112 win in Game 1, but this series has been almost too close to call since. However, both these clubs are battling ghosts of playoff failures past. Detroit has not earned a home victory in the postseason since their last series win way back in 2008 and have also covered the spread just once during their subsequent 0-9 run on home court. For New York, there is pressure to end this series on Thursday night considering this club has failed to claim victory in series-clinching game on home hardwood since 1999.
New York Knicks
The Knicks scored by committee in Tuesday’s Game 5 loss, with all five starters reaching double digits. However, the dominant performances of earlier in the series were lacking, with former Toronto Raptor OG Anunoby setting a team-high with just 19 points. Jalen Brunson particularly struggled, scoring just 16 points on meagre 25% shooting and tallying just seven assists. Brunson still leads the squad with 29.8 points per game, but the Knicks have lost four straight in the postseason when the veteran point guard fails to score 30 or more points. Karl-Anthony Towns also saw his production drop off in Game 5, scoring just 17 points on 35.7% shooting but set a team high with 11 rebounds while recording his second double-double of the series.
Detroit Pistons
The Pistons also struggled to find the mark in Game 5, shooting just 42.7% from the field, but did just enough to extend this series. Once again, Cade Cunningham provided the spark, setting team highs with 24 points and eight helpers, and has now averaged 25.4 points in the series. Cunningham has been particularly steady on home court, averaging 28.6 points over his past nine appearances, cracking 30 points four times over that stretch, and offers solid value as a -105 bet on the NBA player props to core OVER 27.5 points in Game 6. Dennis Schroder and Malik Beasley have also been solid contributors off the bench. Schroder and Beasley scored 14 and 10 points respectively in Game 5, with Beasley being particularly productive on home court, averaging 14.1 points per game while reaching double digits in 10 straight appearances at Little Caesars Arena and offers intriguing value as a -105 wager on the NBA player props to score OVER 16.5 points+rebounds+assists.
