The third-place Knicks are riding a five-game win streak and enter Friday two games up on the fourth-place Magic, who aren’t ahead that much of a pack of eastern playoff and play-in teams.

Orlando’s in a back-to-back spot too, losing 89-88 to Miami (one of the trailing teams closing in) on home court last night. The Magic blew a double-digit fourth-quarter lead and couldn’t defend a game-winning basket from Miami with under a second remaining. New York last played on Christmas, squeaking out a 117-114 victory at home against San Antonio.

Tip-off at the Kia Center goes at 7 p.m. EST with the Knicks a -250 road moneyline favourite and -6.5 on the point spread, while the total is at 211.5 on the NBA odds.

Knicks vs. Magic NBA Betting Odds

Friday is the sixth of seven straight home games for the Magic and so far it hasn’t gone to plan with two wins and three losses, albeit against some elite competition. A 100-91 Knicks victory started off this Orlando home stand, for reference. Orlando had started the season going 10-0 on home court too, but still hold a 12-3 record both outright and against the spread at home this season. This crazy run at home stretches back even further for the Magic too — they’ve covered in 17 of their last 20 home contests.

The Knicks are 2-0 this season against the Magic, and nine of the last 11 Knicks–Magic contests have finished under the total. Both teams come into Friday in the top eight in points allowed per game (Orlando in second with 103.9, New York in eighth with 110.1). The total’s hovering just above 210 for this matchup, and the lower-scoring the game the better for the Magic as they still remain without forwards Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner (torn obliques).

New York Knicks

An 8-2 stretch currently backed by five straight wins has the Knicks rolling. And this championship-hungry team (+1100 odds, third-best in the NBA) made a statement on Christmas with a close victory over San Antonio. Mikal Bridges more specifically made the statement, dropping a season-high 41 points for the Knicks. Bridges finished 17 for 25 from the field and nailed six of his nine three-point attempts to achieve his seventh-career 40-point game.

Karl-Anthony Towns finished one rebound shy of his 19th straight game with a double-double. Towns is averaging 15.5 rebounds and 22.4 points per game this month and is easily on pace to set a new career high in rebounds by averaging 13.7 this season. Towns also leads the Knicks with 24.6 points per game, which is just above than Jalen Brunson’s 24.5 per game.

Orlando Magic

After bouncing back earlier this week with wins over Miami and Boston, the Magic’s offensive issues came back into the spotlight in last night’s 89-88 defeat to Miami. Orlando started yesterday’s contest with 31 points in the opening quarter but finished the game going five for 30 from three-point range, a category Orlando ranks last in the NBA in.

Jalen Suggs led the Magic with 29 points yesterday, and rookie Tristan da Silva continued to emerge in the starting lineup by putting up 18 points on seven for 12 shooting from the field. But at the end of the day, this Magic team is really missing Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner… their two leads scorers, and only players averaging more than 16 points per game this season.
