Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Toronto is coming off a 126-113 home win against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday night. The victory improves the club’s record to 13-7 straight up and 12-8 against the spread while the under is still 11-9 on the year in Toronto games. The Raptors are now 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS on their home floor as well.
The Pacers couldn’t keep up with the Rockets Wednesday night in Houston and lost 118-97. The result brings Indiana’s season record to 12-10 SU and 13-9 ATS. The Pacers beat the Raptors 107-104 last Friday, but that was on their home floor. Indy is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games against Toronto.
Pacers
Indiana has been playing great basketball over the last few weeks despite the setback against the Rockets. The Pacers are 6-2 ATS over their last eight games thanks in large part to the breakout season of Victor Oladipo. Once considered a prize prospect, Oladipo was turfed by two franchises before turning his career around at Indiana.
He’s averaging 22.8 points per game and making nearly 44 percent of his attempts from distance. He’s among the league leaders in steals and the Pacers allow 5.7 fewer points per 100 possessions when he’s on the floor compared to when he sits.
Raptors
The dynamic duo of Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan reminded the NBA on Wednesday why the pair has to be in the conversion for best backcourt in the league. DeRozan scored 30 points on 14-of-22 shooting while Lowry finished with 36 points and made eight of his 11 attempts from 3-point land.
DeRozan’s scoring production is down this season compared to last year but he’s averaging a career-high 4.7 assists per game. It’s a positive sign that demonstrates his willingness to move the ball more on offence and allows the role players to get more touches.
