The Golden State Warriors will put their four-game win streak on the line when they host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night. After a stretch that saw Golden State lose five consecutive games, the Warriors are back to their winning ways and they’re coming off a 126-112 victory against Washington on Monday. Boston looks like they’ll be able to avoid going through the play-in tournament this year, although they dropped a 95-92 decision at home against Dallas in their last game on Sunday.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. Al Horford added 17 points, Marcus Smart put up 15 and Jaylen Brown had 14. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for Boston. It also snapped a five-game streak of 30-point games for Tatum. The low scoring game wasn’t a surprise as the Celtics and Mavericks have two of the top three scoring defences in the NBA. Boston has the third-best scoring defence, averaging 103.9 points-against per game, while Dallas allows a league-low 103.5 points.

It only took Draymond Green 11 seconds to set Steph Curry up for a 3-pointer and remind Warriors fans how valuable he is on Monday. Green was returning to the lineup after missing the previous 29 games with a back injury. He finished with six points, seven rebounds and six assists in 20 minutes of action. It was the first time Green, Curry and Klay Thompson were on the court together since Game 6 of the 2019 NBA finals, won by Toronto. Curry led all scorers with 47 points, while Thompson and Jordan Poole added 20 each. Golden State shot 53.6 per cent from the field. Curry averages a team-high 25.8 ppg.
Canadian Andrew Wiggins missed Monday’s game with a non-COVID illness and is listed as questionable against Boston. Gary Payton II has missed the last six games with soreness in his left knee and his status is up in the air for Wednesday. Andre Iguodala has missed 23 of the last 24 games, including 15 straight, with lower back tightness and likely won’t play against the Celtics. Warriors coach Steve Kerr has said the team wants to be cautious with Iguodala in preparation for a long playoff run.
