2025 NBA Finals Odds: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander heavily favoured to win Finals MVP
It’s now a waiting game for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have punched their ticket to the NBA Finals versus either New York or Indiana.
Regarldess of the opponent, Canadian superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander will be a heavy favourite to win Finals MVP. Let’s take a look at the top contenders.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Hopefully Shai Gilgeous-Alexander knows a good carpenter because he will seriously have to expand his trophy case in the off-season. The Hamilton, Ontario native won his first career regular season MVP and Western Conference Finals MVP, and he’s a -600 favourite to win Finals MVP, while the Thunder are -750 favourites to win the NBA championship.
SGA torched Minnesota in the Western Conference Finals, averaging 31.4 points, 8.2 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. With OKC set to be a significant favourite against whoever they play in the NBA Finals, there’s no reason to think Gilgeous-Alexander will slow down anytime soon.
Tyrese Haliburton
Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton is SGA’s closest competition for Finals MVP, but although the Pacers are in the drivers seat against the Knicks, they haven’t clinched the series yet.
It’s almost unbelievable that Haliburton was named the most overrated player in the NBA in a recent anonymous player poll. He’s leading the playoffs with 9.5 assists per game and he almost single-handedly led Indiana to a Game 4 victory with a triple double of 32 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds to go along with four steals.
