Marc Diakiese is definitely a guy who likes to come forward as six of his 14 wins have been via knockout. He's the -175 favourite on Saturday.
Lightweights Marc Diakiese will take on Rafael Fiziev as part of the main card on Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 2. Diakiese is 14-3 in his career but has mixed results in the UFC so far. As for Fiziev, this is just his third fight in the promotion and he’s just 1-1 so far.
Marc Diakiese UFC Odds
Diakiese comes into Saturday’s event as a -175 favorite on the UFC odds board but that’s mostly because he has more experience in the UFC. He’s a little bit more of a known commodity. He is now 5-3 in his UFC career but he’s been very streaky. He won his first two bouts, lost his next three, and now enters Saturday on the strength of back-to-back wins over Lando Vannata and Joseph Duffy.
Diakiese is definitely a guy who likes to come forward as six of his 14 wins have been via knockout. However, the finishes have been few and far between of late. He was able to knock out his opponent in four of his first nine fights (all outside of the UFC). In his UFC career, he has just two knockouts in eight fights and none in his last five. It appears his power isn’t as effective the tougher his opponents get.
Rafael Fiziev UFC Odds
Fiziev is not a well-known commodity as he has just two UFC fights under his belt. That’s resulted in a decision win (in his most recent bout) against Alex White and a first-round knockout loss to Magomed Mustafaev in his UFC debut. There was a little bit of buzz surrounding Fiziev as he had won all six of his MMA fights before coming to the UFC with all of the results being finishes. He knocked out five opponents and choked out the other.
Fiziev’s odds here are helped by his win over White because that bout actually went the distance. Fiziev hadn’t fought past the 3:59 mark of the second round before and even still to date, six of his eight career fights have ended in the first round. Bettors should still be weary that he might fade in fights.
The other concern is that Fiziev had ACL and MCL surgery in November. Although we’re eight months removed from that, this could still be a factor.
Overall, he’s just more of a wild card. He’s shown impressive power against inferior competition but We really don’t know just what his stamina is like, he hasn’t fought in the UFC for very long and he doesn’t have many long fights under his belt. If this one gets past the first round, the edge goes to Diakiese.
