Blaydes is a -315 favourite on the MMA odds with Rozenstruik at +225.
Curtis Blaydes UFC 266 Odds
The 30-year-old Blaydes is from the Chicago area and was an excellent collegiate wrestler. He’s 14-3 and ranked No. 4 in the heavyweight division – Francis Ngannou is the champion.
After fighting in a few organizations, Blaydes made his UFC debut in April 2016 against Ngannou and lost by second-round TKO (doctor stoppage). “Razor” wouldn’t lose again until facing Ngannou again, losing by first-round TKO (punches) in November 2018.
Blaydes followed that with four straight wins, including over former champion Junior dos Santos, but comes off a February second-round KO loss (punch) to Derrick Lewis. A highlight-reel uppercut finished off Blaydes. His fights only average 10:15.
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Blaydes has 10 wins by KO/TKO and four by decision – all three losses are via KO/TKO. He lands 3.58 significant strikes per minute with 53 per cent accuracy and absorbs 1.70 significant strikes per minute with 57 per cent defence. Blaydes’ takedown average is 6.64 per 15 minutes with 54 per cent accuracy and his takedown defence is 33 per cent.
On the method of victory prop, Blaydes is +160 by points, +175 by KO/TKO/DQ and +525 by submission. He will have a two-inch height and reach advantage over his opponent.
Jairzinho Rozenstruik UFC 266 Odds
From Suriname, the 6-foot-2, 245-pound Rozenstruik, 33, is 12-2 and ranked No. 6 in the division. “Bigi Boy” opened his professional career with 10 straight wins, including a notable victory over the legendary Alistair Overeem in December 2019.
However, then Rozenstruik ran into Ngannou last May and lost via knockout just 20 seconds in. He bounced back with a TKO win over Junior dos Santos before losing in February to Ciryl Gane by unanimous decision. Rozenstruik’s career was somewhat at a crossroads when he entered the Octagon in June and dominated Augusto Sakai with a first-round TKO.
“I think this fight will bring me to the top, I beat him and I take his spot. If I need one more fight for the championship, let’s go. I want a quick turnaround after this one as well,” Rozenstruik said of facing Blaydes.
Rozenstruik’s fights average just 8:49 as he has 11 wins by KO/TKO (one by submission). He lands 3.15 significant strikes per minute with 49 per cent accuracy and absorbs 3.27 with 40 per cent defence. His takedown average is literally 0:00 and his takedown defence is 80 per cent.
This fight clearly will not be decided on the ground. To win by KO/TKO/DQ Rozenstruik is +300, by decision is +800 and by submission a +2000 long shot.
