The main event of Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 event from the U.S. White House is for the lightweight title, but there’s also a good matchup from that weight class earlier on the main card as Brazil’s Mauricio Ruffy faces American Michael Chandler. Ruffy is a -475 favourite on the MMA odds and Chandler +490 with an over-under of just 1.5 rounds for the scheduled three-rounder.

UFC White House Odds: Mauricio Ruffy

Ilia Topuria is the current UFC lightweight champion and puts that belt on the line in the main event of UFC Freedom 250 against Justin Gaethje. The 29-year-old Brazilian Mauricio Ruffy is ranked ninth with a career MMA mark of 13-2 and 4-1 since joining the UFC.

That lone UFC loss came in September 2025 via second-round submission (face-crank) to Benoit St. Denis, but Ruffy bounced back in January with a second-round TKO (punches) win over Rafael Fiziev to earn Performance of the Night – his third such honour in the UFC. Ruffy put Fiziev on wobbly legs with a clean combination and continued the barrage until it was halted.

Ruffy has a 92 per cent knockout rate with 12 of his 13 wins overall ending via that route. His lone victory to reach the judges was a three-round unanimous decision against James Llontop at UFC 309. Ruffy has finished eight of those wins in Round 1 and also earned one of 16 knockouts in UFC history stemming from a spinning wheel kick. He accomplished the feat at UFC 313 in beating King Green.

At 5-foot-11, Ruffy is three inches taller than Chandler and his reach of 75 inches is four better. The Brazilian’s bouts average 9:00. He lands 4.19 significant strikes per minute with 58 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.09 with 58 per cent defence. His takedown average is literally zero, and his takedown defence is 85 per cent.

No doubt that a win over Chandler would be Ruffy’s biggest to date, and his favoured method of victory is by KO/TKO/DQ at -250. That Ruffy gets a Round 1 victory by any method is +130.

UFC White House Odds: Michael Chandler

While Ruffy is looking to solidify himself as a Top 10 lightweight contender in the UFC, the 40-year-old Chandler (23-10) is at the end of a stellar career and ranked 13th in the division. He is a former three-time Bellator lightweight champion and won the Bellator season 4 lightweight tournament. Chandler is one of four fighters in Bellator/UFC/WEC/PRIDE/Strikeforce history with three title reigns in a single weight class, joining Randy Couture, Douglas Lima and Patricio Freire.

Chandler’s lone UFC lightweight title shot came in May 2021, and he lost to Charles Oliviera by second-round TKO (punches). Including that fight, “Iron” has lost five of six. He was last in the Octagon in April 2025 and beaten by Paddy Pimblett via third-round TKO (elbows and punches). Chandler’s last win was in May 2022 – the three-fight skid has tied a career high — but he has earned won a Fight Night bonus in five of his past seven overall.

The 5-foot-8 Chandler has a reach of 71 inches and his bouts average 9:37. He lands 4.04 significant strikes per minute with 49 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.52 with 43 per cent defence. His takedown average is 1.96 per 15 minutes with 41 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 61 per cent.

Overall, he has five losses by KO/TKO, four by decision and one by submission, while 11 of his wins are by KO/TKO, seven by submission and five via the judges. Chandler is one of eight fighters in UFC history to earn a knockout stemming from a front kick to the face, doing it vs. Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. That is Chandler’s only win in his past six. Five of his seven career UFC fights have ended via stoppage.

His favoured method Saturday is by KO/TKO at +900. The overall favoured method of victory for either is KO/TKO at -400. That the bout goes the full three rounds is +350 with no at -550. A draw is +5000, while that it ends in Round 1 is a +100 favourite.

UFC Freedom 250: Ruffy vs. Chandler Prediction

I lean Ruffy by KO/TKO but not much value there at -250, so will go with over 1.5 rounds at +100 because of the price. Ruffy can still finish via KO/TKO, but we just need him to take a bit to get there.
