Holly Holm vs. Miesha Tate: UFC 196 Odds and Prediction

One of the most hotly anticipated fights at UFC 196 will be the battle between Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, the bantamweight champion who stunned the world a few months ago by dismantling Ronda Rousey in a huge upset.

Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:35PM EST
MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas
Odds: Holm -420, Tate +290

Holly Holm, the -420 favorite, has a 10-0 record coming into this fight, which will be her first appearance as an MMA fighter in Las Vegas. Although Holm isn’t as skilled a grappler as Tate, she is a fierce striker capable of some seriously devastating hits and shattering kicks. If she can keep this match off the mat, she should be able to handle Tate easily.

Meisha Tate has been beaten by Rousey before, but she’s no slouch. She’s coming into this fight with a 17-5 record, and has won almost half of her fights by decision. Tate is also on a roll, winning her last four fights with the last in July over Jessica Eye. She is currently the +290 underdog.

Tate is the superior wrestler and grappler out of these two fighters, and could stand a chance at a submission win if she can get Holm to the mat. That said, if Holm gets a couple solid hits in early, the fight will be over.

Odds: Holly Holm: -420 favorite

Holm vs. Tate Prediction

Holm by KO

when asked her opinion on the Holm vs. Tate fight, Ronda Rousey said she was rooting for Holm. “I need her to win. I want to be the one to beat her, so I don’t want anyone else to take the honor of beating her but myself.” A rematch between Holm and Rousey has yet to be scheduled, as the injuries suffered by Rousey during her last meeting with Holm have left her uncleared to fight.
