Court McGee vs. Matt Brown Preview: UFC Fight Night Odds, Prediction
The two will be featured in the final preliminary bout on UFC on ABC 4 this Saturday. Both are 38 or older and both enter on slumps, so it could be the end of the line for one of them. That will only add a layer of intensity to what should be an energetic bout between the two.

Court McGee
McGee is 38 years old, is coming off a loss and has mostly been in a downtrend ever since he joined the UFC. He was 14-1 in his MMA career at one point; he’s just 7-10 since. Of concern for his UFC future is the fact that he’s dropped six of his last nine. The latest shortcoming was a first-round knockout loss to Jeremiah Wells in June of last year. There’s no question that the Ultimate Fighter 11 winner has earned a spot in the hearts of fans. His openness about his previous drug addiction and his vulnerability has won fans over. He needs to start collecting the wins in the Octagon, though, or it could be the end of the line.
Another concern is McGee’s chin. For the longest time, he was viewed as someone with a lot of toughness and grit. If you bet on him, you could count on him being in the fight. His latest loss was the first time in a while that this wasn’t the case as Wells knocked him out quickly. Is this a sign that the 38-year-old is nearing the end or was it merely an aberration? The thinking is that we won’t really know the answer until he faces another fighter on the rise like Wells. Matt Brown is not that, so logic suggests that McGee’s determination and grit will not only get him through this fight but get him the upper hand too.
Matt Brown
There was a time when Brown was viewed as a possible title contender but that feels really long ago. Ever since his seven-fight winning streak (that ended in 2014), he’s gone 4-8 since. He’s now 42 years old and there are questions about his motor. Does he still have the moxie and energy to go toe-to-toe for three rounds? We know we’ll get at least one exciting round here but what if this fight drags on? With if McGee eats the shots and comes back for more?
Brown engages in all-out wars and some of this fight – if not all of it – will be that. Both of these fighters are tough as nails but it feels like Brown’s age and energy are just not quite what they used to be. That should give McGee the edge to pull this out via decision.
