Jose Bautista leads the Toronto Blue Jays into baseball’s final four against the Kansas City Royals.
The Toronto Blue Jays took the scenic route to get to the Major League Baseball American League Championship Series, but now that they’ve made it, Sports Interaction has their odds set as -150 favourites to beat the Kansas City Royals.

Looking further down the road, the Blue Jays also remain favourites to win the World Series, just as they have for most of the season.
World Series Odds
Since making the plunge at the trade deadline to bring in David Price and Troy Tulowitzki, the Blue Jays have been the most popular bet in baseball despite being heavy favourites more often than not. Oddsmakers just couldn’t boost odds high enough to take equal action on their opponents during the dog days of summer as the Jays streaked toward the AL East crown.
Now, after disposing of the Texas Rangers in dramatic fashion in the ALDS, Blue Jays fever has reached a whole new level. In turn, we’ve seen the Toronto Blue Jays’ odds follow suit.
“Now that Marcus Stroman is healthy again, the Jays have a very deep starting rotation to go along with an explosive offence,” a Sports Interaction oddsmaker says. “You add in the media buzz surrounding this team across the country and what you get is a team that has everyone’s attention. New customers are signing up just to bet on the Blue Jays. Guys who only bet football before are now betting on the Blue Jays daily. This Jays fever is real.”
Now the real question is how long the Blue Jays can continue to ride this wave.
With Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion and Josh Donaldson holding down the middle of the order to go along with a very strong supporting cast, Toronto’s offence doesn’t go through many slumps. The Jays led the bigs in home runs, OPS and runs per game during the regular season and finished second in team batting average.
MLB Playoffs Prediction
Toronto’s rotation is among the league’s best too as the Jays will send out Marco Estrada as a -130 favourite in Game 1, followed by Price, Stroman and R.A. Dickey. Really, Toronto’s biggest weakness is in the bullpen, especially with Brett Cecil out with a torn calf muscle. Without him, the Jays are dangerously thin on left-handed pitching, which could come back to bite them against a Royals squad that pushes the envelope on the basepaths and manufactures runs.
Still, there are a lot of reasons why bettors have flocked to the Blue Jays this season and Toronto is the better team on paper. Now the Jays just have to prove it.
MLB Playoffs Pick
Toronto Blue Jays defeat Kansas City Royals in six games and move on to fight for their third World Series championship.
