The stud closer is suffering from lower back injuries. He didn’t look great on Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels and has since been placed on 15-day injury list. The former Cardinals shut-down pitcher sports a 3.67 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 41.2 innings of work so far in 2023. Reports are that the Blue Jays are excited about his 100.5 mph sinker and his 60 per cent groundball percentage, an extremely important stat when managing those late innings. Only 26 years old, he has more than enough great years ahead of him should he remain healthy – he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2019 - and he fit into Toronto’s plans well enough.
