Blue Jays’ Matt Chapman on 10-Day IL

Life without Bo Bichette and Matt Chapman, at least for a while, began on Monday evening when Toronto opened a home series versus the Washington Nationals. The night ended well given the 6-3 win, but the afternoon brought with it some concerning news. The aftermath of Chapman’s finger sprain is that he will be out of commission for at least ten days.

Davis Schneider, who earned admiration for his performances earlier this month, got to play third base on Monday. In three visits to the plate, he earned a hit and a walk.

As has been said by more than a few people lately, including former Blue Jays head coach John Gibbons on Pitch Clock, it’s all hands on deck now for John Schneider’s crew. Toronto is 72-60 and two and a half games out of an AL Wild Card spot.

The Toronto Blue Jays continue their series with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre.
