With the Toronto Blue Jays in the hunt for a postseason birth and the MLB trade deadline behind them, things are heating up in the Ontario capital. Are the Blue Jays Winners Without Bo Bichette?

As per reports, Bichette is on a 10-day injured list, meaning the injury he suffered during Monday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles while running the bases is less severe than originally feared. Even so, knee injuries can be tricky. Bastl pitches the big question to former manager John Gibbons. Can the Blue Jays win without their star?

“No. I mean, I think they can get in (the playoffs). They can hang on and get in but wouldn’t advance very far. But knock on wood. They got lucky there.”

John Schneider: Bo Bichette is Team’s “Best Player”

There was no way the topic could be avoided. On a roster replete with talent, from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to Whit Merrifield and Kevin Gausman, manager John Schneider, while talking to the press, referenced Bo Bichette as the squad’s best player. This, understandably, got people talking.

How should the clubhouse deal with an episode like this when the team’s actual head coach has chosen whom they believe to be the best player?

“It depends on what kind of clubhouse you have. Some guys can come out and say ‘Hey, we got a bunch of good players. You didn’t have to put him (Bichette) on a pedestal THAT high, did you?’”

Speaking from experience, “Gibby” goes on to explain that although certain players could take offence to the comment, most probably won’t. These are professionals and know what their coach is like.

“(chuckling) Schneider isn’t really buying into that politically correct world, huh?”
