So what can we expect from Teoscar Hernandez’s visit this weekend?

Teoscar Hernandez is Back to Face Blue Jays

One of the hot topics on the lips of Blue Jays’ fans, apart from the club’s hot start of course, is the looming weekend series versus the Seattle Mariners. Yes, a team that conjures vile memories in the minds of many faithful Jays fans. But an intriguing subplot is that Teoscar Hernandez returns as a member of the visiting team.

“Gibby” reminisces about former Toronto stars who returned to play their former club while he was still the club’s manager and compares those situations to what Hernandez might face this weekend.

“I wasn’t there for many returning games. I was there when (Jose) Bautista came back. He was with the Mets. It was a little bit different because he was at the tail end of his career.”

The former Jays head coach does have high praise for both Hernandez and the Toronto fanbase. After all, Gibbons was a manager in 2015 when the franchise signed the right fielder.

“I’m a big Teoscar fan. We picked him up from Houston while I was there. He’s a wonderful human being and a great talent.”

Hernandez might not be at the same level as Carlos Delgado or Roy Halladay, but he’s definitely one of the better players out there. Blue Jays are tremendous, as per Gibbons. They’ll surely celebrate Hernandez as they should.
