George Springer

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said on Thursday he expects to have Springer back in the lineup for Game 6 after missing the last two games with an oblique injury.

Springer left in the seventh inning of Game 3 after pulling up in pain following an awkward swing at bat. He immediately motioned to the trainers and left the game. Toronto went on to lose 6-5 in an 18-inning marathon.

The former World Series MVP has had a major bounce back year and was arguably the best player for the Blue Jays in the regular season.

In 14 playoff games, Springer is batting .246 with 14 hits, four home runs and nine RBIs. His biggest hit of the playoffs came in Game 7 of the ALCS when he launched a three-run home run in the seventh inning to put Toronto ahead of the Mariners and seal the series victory.

Springer was a key piece of the Houston Astros’ 2017 championship run that saw him named World Series MVP.

World Series odds

For the first time, Toronto is favoured to win the World Series with Games 6 and 7 (if needed) played at the Rogers Centre.

The Blue Jays enter Game 6 as -250 favourites to win the series, with L.A. sitting as a +200 underdog. It’s a far cry from Game 4 when Toronto was +375 and the Dodgers were -500.

Toronto’s current -250 price comes with an implied probability of 71.4 per cent, which is a massive leap from their 21.1 per cent probability to win the World Series ahead of Game 4.
