Trey Yesavage
Toronto selected right-hander Yesavage 20th overall in the 2024 MLB draft out of East Carolina.
He’s posted great numbers across four levels this season, making 25 appearances (22 starts) in the minors. Yesavage has a 3.12 ERA with an impressive 160 strikeouts and just 41 walks across 98.0 combined innings pitched in 2025.
Originally scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Yesavage now has a chance to compete for a post-season spot on the Jays’ playoff roster, likely in the bullpen.
Schneider said Yesavage doesn’t have an innings cap for the rest of the season. Depending on his performance, he could either continue to start or be moved to the bullpen.
Blue Jays rotation
If Toronto had continued with their original rotation schedule, Jose Berrios would have started on Monday. Berrios’ next start is now pushed back to Tuesday, followed by Kevin Gausman and Chris Bassit to finish off the Tampa series.
After a weekend sweep of Baltimore, the Blue Jays widened their lead atop the AL East standings by four games over the Yankees and 5.5 games over the Red Sox. Toronto also has a 2.5-game cushion over the Tigers for top spot in the American League.
