Blue Jays Catcher Danny Jansen Gone for Regular Season

The story’s catalyst came in a game against the Colorado Rockies last week when Jansen was hit by a foul tip, severely injuring his right hand.

Jansen had surgery on the middle finger on Thursday and it needs significant time to heal. So much so that Jansen is ruled out for all of the club’s remaining regular season contests.

Should the Blue Jays earn a playoff berth, his participation in the postseason has not been ruled out, as per manager John Schneider.

In light of Jansen’s absence from the lineup, Toronto has brought in catcher Tyler Heineman from Triple-A.

This season Jansen had been hitting .228 with 53 RBIs and 17 home runs.

On the flip side of this disappointing turn of events, shortstop Bo Bichette returned to the lineup for Friday’s game.

The Blue Jays continue their three-game set against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday and Sunday.
