Outfield shakeup

This is the second time the Blue Jays and Astros have linked up in a Loperfido trade. Toronto originally traded for Loperfido at the 2024 deadline in the Yusei Kikuchi deal.

This should be an upgrade to the Jays’ outfield. The left-handed hitting Sanchez, 28, split last season between the Miami Marlins and Houston Astros, appearing in 134 games. He finished 2025 with 14 home runs, 48 RBIs and 13 stolen bases while hitting .237.

Loperfido played half of last year with the Blue Jays and the other half with their Triple-A affiliate, the Buffalo Bisons. The 26-year-old batted .333 across 41 major league games in 2025. He hit .264 in 91 minor league games.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays spent heavily in free agency to improve the roster after falling just short against the L.A. Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series, adding Dylan Cease, Cody Ponce and Kazuma Okamoto.

Toronto is +1300 to win the World Series in 2026, tied with the Seattle Mariners for the third-shortest odds. They also have the second-shortest odds to win the AL East (+275) and the third-shortest odds to win the American League (+600).
