2026 MLB Odds, Schedule: Toronto Blue Jays push back season opener

Toronto Blue Jays fans will need to be a little more patient as their home and season opener for the 2026 season has been pushed back a day.

Here’s what you need to know.

2026 schedule

The Blue Jays were originally scheduled to open the season at home with an afternoon game against the Athletics on March 26. That has now been pushed to a 7:07 p.m. ET start on Friday, March 27, the team announced on Thursday.

The new start date makes Toronto and the Athletics the last teams to debut in 2026, with every other team kicking their respective seasons off on Wednesday or Thursday.

The Blue Jays also announced the start times for games will be unchanged from last year. Weekday games will begin at 7:07 p.m. ET, Saturdays go at 3:07 p.m. ET and Sundays are at 1:37 p.m. ET.

The exception is for eight weekday afternoon games, with six scheduled for 3:07 p.m. ET and two school-day games scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET.

Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto’s Spring Training schedule is slated to begin Feb. 21 against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Blue Jays have made the biggest early off-season splash, signing starting pitchers Dylan Cease (seven years, $210 million) and Cody Ponce (three years, $30 million). Arguably the biggest free agent available, Kyle Tucker, was also see at Toronto’s Spring Training facility in Dunedin, Florida on Wednesday.

Oddsmakers have noticed the Blue Jays’ moves and given the team a little more respect on the MLB futures board. After beginning the off-season tied with Atlanta and San Diego for the eighth-shortest World Series odds at +2000, Toronto is now listed at +1300 to win the World Series, trailing only the Dodgers (+340), Yankees (+750) and Phillies (+1100).

The best off-season futures bet in my mind is the Blue Jays to win repeat as American League champions at +700. That’s great value considering they have an upgraded roster and they just proved in the playoffs they can beat the two teams with shorter odds, New York (+320) and Seattle (+550).
