2026 MLB Cy Young Odds: Blue Jays’ Dylan Cease challenging Cam Schlittler in the American League

Unlike some of the other major awards, Cy Young odds in baseball tend to shift significantly throughout the season.

This year, Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes entered as the Cy Young favourites in the American League and National League, respectively. However, new contenders have emerged as Skubal has missed a large chunk of time because of elbow surgery, while Skenes just hasn’t pitched to the level he was at when he won the NL Cy Young unanimously last year.

On the updated odds, Jacob Misiorowski is currently a heavy favourite in the NL and it’s essentially a two-horse race between Cam Schlittler and Dylan Cease in the AL.

Let’s go into it with this year’s Cy Young favourites.

AL Cy Young odds

Cam Schlittler (+120)

Schlittler has been the favourite since Skubal was out of the running. The Yankees’ ace is 9-6 and leads the AL in ERA (2.20), innings pitched (123) and WAR (4.1). He has allowed more than three runs just twice in 21 games this season and he’s holding opponents to a .205 average, the second-best mark in the AL.

Dyaln Cease (+150)

Toronto’s Cease finished with seven strikeouts against the Rays on Tuesday, but dropped to 6-5 after the Blue Jays’ offence once again failed to provide any support. Cease has been one of the few bright spots in Toronto as he leads the AL in both strikeouts (155) and opponents’ average (.196).

While the righty missed a couple weeks with a hamstring injury, his 104.1 innings pitched is still enough to rank on the awards ballot. Cease has a 2.67 ERA overall (fourth in the AL), but he’s been even better since returning from injury, posting a 1.73 ERA in six starts.

NL Cy Young odds

Jacob Misiorowski (-325)

Misiorowski (10-4) has consistently hit triple-figure heat this year, leading the Brewers to a runaway lead atop the NL Central. The Miz has easily been the best pitcher in all of baseball, leading the majors in ERA (1.57), strikeouts (173) and WHIP (0.77).

With 10 wins, Misiorowski also has a shot at the MLB Triple Crown and he’s only getting more dominant. Over 13 starts since May 1, Misiorowski has a ridiculous 0.87 ERA with an MLB-leading 13.6 strikeouts per nine inning ratio over 82.1 innings.

Cristopher Sanchez (+750)

Philadelphia’s Cristopher Sanchez (12-4) has the best shot at knocking off the Miz in the NL. Sanchez is tied for the MLB lead with 12 wins and he had an almost unbelievable run earlier in the year with 50.2 scoreless innings pitched, the fifth-longest single-season streak since 1893 (133! years).

The Phillies’ lefty has a 2.71 ERA to rank seventh in the NL, while his 151 strikeouts is second in all of baseball. If Sanchez can improve that ERA a touch, he’ll have a real shot at catching Misiorowski.
