2024 MLB Odds: How to bet on the Toronto Blue Jays
There’s no hiding the fact that it’s been a very disappointing year for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays sit last in the AL East standings with a 23-29 record and they’re five games back of the final American League wild-card spot. While you can’t necessarily count on Toronto to produce in the win column in 2024, there’s still plenty of alternative Blue Jays betting options to capitalize on.
Playoff odds
The Jays are already 12.5 games back in the AL East, so winning the division is out of the cards. At this point, your best futures bet is for Toronto to make the playoffs at +375. That’s a great price considering they still have 110 games left on the schedule and they very much remain in the wild-card hunt.
There’s plenty of optimism to think the Jays can make a playoff push. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and the rest of the offence has come alive since the team brought the home run jacket back and Alek Manoah looks like he’s regained his form on the mound. Add in the fact that Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios and Yusei Kikuchi are all having strong seasons and you have a legit case for the Blue Jays to make the playoffs.
Player props and futures
Player props and futures are another great alternative option to bet on the Blue Jays. It’s safe to say there’s no real case for a Toronto player to win American League MVP this season, but there are a few Cy Young contenders on the mound. Now, let me put down my sports writing hat and put on my lawyer hat (or robe, maybe?) and make the case for three Blue Jays pitchers to win the AL Cy Young this year.
Jose Berrios
Berrios has fully embraced the role of Toronto’s ace this season. After he was named the team’s Opening Day starter, the right-hander has gone on to record eight quality outings in 10 total starts. Berrios is boasting a career-best 2.94 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 53 strikeouts over 67.1 innings pitched.
Kevin Gausman
Gausman is coming off his best start of the year in Toronto’s 9-1 win in Detroit on Thursday. He allowed just one run on three hits and two walks while striking out a season-high 10 batters. Gausman has won his last three decisions (over five starts) and he’s allowed one run or fewer in five of his last seven starts.
Yusei Kikuchi
Full disclosure, we added Kikuchi to this list before he got rocked in Toronto’s bizarre 14-11 loss to the White Sox on Sunday in which he gave up eight hits and five earned runs while lasting just three innings. Prior to that game, the 32-year-old ranked 11th in the American League in ERA (2.68) and 12th in strikeouts (61). Kikuchi is still top 20 in ERA (3.25) and strikeouts (61), however, and a few good outings could return him to fringe Cy Young candidate.
Alternate lines
If you still want to bet on Blue Jays games, but don’t have the heart to go against Toronto, try alternate lines. In a standard run line bet, the spread is 1.5 so the favourite has to win by two or more runs.

An alternate run line widens the spread to 2.5 and gives the Blue Jays a little more wiggle room when they are the underdog.
