Ruler On Ice Belmont Stakes

Ruler On Ice 2011 Belmont Stakes Winner

Today was the day when we found out the answer. Which horse would prevail?  Today’s Belmont Stakes was the race that would determine whether the victor would be Animal Kingdom or Shackleford, or whether they would be upset by one of the ten other competing horses. And in an upset, longshot Ruler On Ice prevailed. The top three finishers for the 2011 Belmont Stakes are Ruler on Ice, Stay Thrirsty, and Brilliant Speed.

Following the top three finishers were Nehro, Shackleford, Animal Kingdom, Mucho Macho Man, Santiva, Monzon, Master of Hounds, Prime Cut and Isn’t He Perfect.

The 1-1/2 mile last leg of the 2011 Triple Crown series will either settle or unsettle their rivalry of the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winners. However, like any good race, there was the chance of an upset amongst the field of 3-year-olds to shake things up. And that’s just what happened when Ruler On Ice crossed the finish line.

The grandstands at Belmont Park were full of spectators as Win/Place/Show finishers crossed the line at the 143rd Belmont Stakes, completing the final leg of the Triple Crown. Morning rains have turned the main track at Belmont Park into mud, with the main track will be sealed and labeled muddy for the opener, which went down at 11:35 Saturday morning, but by the time the big race occurred at 6:35, track conditions had immensely improved.

Although the Belmont marks the official end of the Triple Crown, there are more races in the works with Sports Interaction’s online horse betting available in the racebook.
