2019 Belmont Stakes: Betting Odds, Post Positions and Predictions

This weekend’s event marks the third and final Grade I stakes Thoroughbred race of the season. Unlike last year’s race, which was of major interest due to Justify trying for the Triple Crown win, this year just one of the nine horses running at Belmont has won one of the other two Triple Crown races.

2019 Belmont Stakes Date and Post Positions

The Belmont Stakes will take place on Saturday, June 8. It  is often called the Test of the Champions and is a distance of 1 ½ miles on the dirt. This race is run three weeks after the Preakness and awards the winner a $1.5 million purse.

2019 Belmont Stakes Betting Odds

The above list shows the current odds for the horses running in the 151st Belmont Stakes. As of this writing the two frontrunners are Tacitus and War of Will. War of Will was the winner of the Preakness Stakes last month and Tacitus was the third place finisher at the Kentucky Derby. Derby winner Country House is currently priced with 5/1 odds.

2019 Belmont Stakes Winner Prediction

We’ve liked War of Will since he first qualified for the Kentucky Derby with wins in the Lecomte and Risen Star Stakes. Although he placed 7th overall at the controversial Derby, we predicted he’d go on to win the Preakness, which he did. We like War of Will to claim the win this weekend, which would make him just the 12th horse to have lost the Kentucky Derby and then gone on to win the Preakness and Belmont.
