The 2026 Players Championship: PGA Tour Betting Odds
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is favoured on the PGA Players Championship golf odds.
The purse for the Players Championship is a whopping $25 million (U.S.), with $4.5 million, among other perks, to the winner. There were initially 120 players eligible to compete but with Brooks Koepka’s re-entry into the PGA Tour from LIV and being eligible for the Players, the Tour boosted the field size to 123. There is a cut to Top 65 players and tied after 36 holes.
It’s the 52nd playing of the Players and again held at TPC Sawgrass’ Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, which is also home city of PGA Tour’s headquarters. Of course the most memorable hole – even if most PGA Tour guys hate it – is the island par-3 17th. That there is at least one hole-in-one there this year is +190. Overall, the Stadium Course plays to a par 72 overall at about 7,360 yards. Approximately 70 yards have been added since last year.
There are small greens, so guys who scramble well typically fare well at Sawgrass. The last six winners since the Players Championship moved back to March were all ranked Top 10 in the world, and the current Top 10 are all teeing it up this week. The last four winners all had won previously that year.
Current No. 2 Rory McIlroy is the defending champion, adding to his 2019 title. McIlroy and J.J. Spaun finished 72 holes at 12-under 276, and McIlroy won in a three-hole aggregate playoff (Nos. 16-18) on Monday after a long rain delay Sunday. Spaun shot an even-par 72 Sunday, while McIlroy shot 4-under 68.
McIlroy became the eighth multiple winner of the Players. Only Jack Nicklaus has won it three times, and the last repeat winner was Scheffler in 2024. The weather looks pretty good this week outside of possibly some rain Thursday. In 44 previous stagings at Sawgrass, only two players making their tournament debuts won and not since Craig Perks in 2002.
The Players Championship Golf Odds
Scottie Scheffler’s odds to win are coming back to the pack tournament-by-tournament as he’s +480 this week to win the Players for a record-tying third time. Trying for a threepeat in 2025, he finished 20th. Scheffler also has been outside the Top 10 in his past two Tour events this year, a big rarity.
Rory McIlroy (+1500) withdrew prior to his third-round tee time in the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando last Saturday due to a back injury but expects to tough it out this week. In between his two wins in this tournament mentioned above, he didn’t contend.
Collin Morikawa (+1800), Si Woo Kim (+2200) and Tommy Fleetwood (+2500) round out the favourites. Morikawa leads the FedExCup standings following a T5 last week in Orlando to continue a strong start to the year. His best result here is 10th last year. Kim won in 2017 by three shots at 10-under 278. Fleetwood had Top-10 results in his first two events on Tour this year before really struggling last week in Orlando. He has two Top 10s at Sawgrass. Fleetwood is the defending FedExCup champion and will play with former FedExCup winners in Scheffler and Justin Thomas the first two rounds.
Stephen Ames, who has dual nationality in Trinidad and Tobago and Canada, won this event in 2006 by six shots and was a runner-up in 2002. He’s the lone Canadian winner. Corey Conners was the top finisher last year at T6, while Taylor Pendrith was T38. Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Hadwin, Nick Taylor, Adam Svensson and Ben Silverman missed the cut. Pendrith is +10000 this week as is Conners. Taylor is +12500, Hughes +17500, Sudarshan Yellamaraju +50000 and AJ Ewart +75000.
The Players Championship Golf Predictions
We like Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama at +3500. He has finished in the Top 10 at Sawgrass four times but yet to win.
