Golf Betting: Simpson One to Watch
Frank Doyle makes his picks for this weekend’s AT&T National!
The AT&T National, one of the only five invitational events on the PGA Tour, is generally held at Congressional. As Congressional hosted the US Open this year, the National is been played at the Aronimink course outside Philadelphia for the past two years.
This is no respite for the field, as the Aronimink course is the sort of course Congressional should have been but wasn’t – long drives, punishing rough, heartbreaking greens.
Justin Rose won at -10 last year but he’s unlikely to be a contender this weekend – the Englishman can’t buy a putt this year and until that changes, you can’t trust him with your golf betting funds. There’s a strong case to be made for Ryan Moore but there have been so many big price winners on tour this year it’s too tempting not to look further down the card for value. So with that in mind, here are Sports Interaction’s
Fore! to Follow
Webb Simpson (+2800). Simpson’s very close to winning his first PGA tournament – he was second in the Transitions Championship and lost a playoff to Bubba Watson in the Zurich Classic. He’s scoring well and he’s only missed two cuts this year.
Gary Woodland (+4000). Long off the tee, scoring well, high on greens in regulation and a winner already on tour at the Transitions Championship.
Robert Garrigus (+8000). Garrigus is a streaky player but he has a crushing drive and came third in the Open. He’s worth a look at a big price.
Jhonathan Vegas (+10000). Another man who can wallop it off the tee, and a winner already on tour at the Bob Hope Classic.
