Genesis Invitational: 2026 PGA Tour Betting Odds

Scottie Scheffler is again a crazy-short favourite on the PGA Tour golf odds.

Tiger Woods began hosting this event for his foundation in 2020 but never won it and will miss it for the fourth time in the last six years. He probably has played it for the last time. Last week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, won by Collin Morikawa to end a 28-month drought without a title, was a no-cut Signature Event with a field of 80. Ditto here, but the field is 72.

Sahith Theegala got in as recipient of the Charlie Sifford Memorial Exemption. Awarded annually since 2009, the Sifford Exemption goes to a deserving golfer from a minority background to play in tournament. Two past champions are playing on sponsor exemptions: Adam Scott (won in 2005 & 2020) and Max Homa (2021).

Most of the guys who teed it up last week up the California coast are in this field. Morikawa is +2800 to win back-to-back weeks. He was among six players who had a share of the lead at one point Sunday in a wild and windy final round at Pebble. Morikawa had gone 45 starts since he last won the Zozo Championship in Japan in October 2023. Akshay Bhatia was the 54-hole leader last week by two shots, but he made only two birdies over his last 29 holes.

The defending champion of the Genesis Invitational is Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg. The Swede birdied four of the last six holes for a 6-under 66 and a one-shot victory over Maverick McNealy. But, again, that was at Torrey Pines. Aberg hasn’t won since and is +4000 to repeat. No one has repeated in the tournament since Phil Mickelson in 2009.

The last winner of the event at Riviera, a par 71 at 7,384 yards that will host the men’s and women’s golf competition in the 2028 Summer Olympics, was Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama at 17-under 267 in 2024. He shot a final-round 9-under 62, the lowest closing round by a winner at Riviera.

The past six winners have been from Sweden, Japan, Spain (Jon Rahm, now with LIV Golf), Chile (Joaquin Niemann, also with LIV now), the United States and Australia. The last playoff was in 2021.

World No. 1 is +300, and like always I simply can never recommend that short of a number even as good as Scheffler is. Slow starts have been his issue of late. Two events ago in Phoenix, Scheffler was 10 shots back after a scuffling first round but rallied to finish third. Last week, he was 10 shots off the lead again after Round 1 but managed to rally for a fourth-place finish. That’s 18 straight Top 10s on the Tour overall. His best result at Riviera is a T7 in 2022.

Bet on the Genesis Invitational

Rory McIlroy (+1200) had a T14 last week in his 2026 Tour debut and has a few Top 10s at this event, including a fourth in 2019. Tommy Fleetwood (+1800), Hideki Matsuyama (+2000) and Xander Schauffele (+2000) round out the favourites. Fleetwood was fourth last week in his USA debut for the year and was 20th at this event in 2024 at Riveira.

Matsuyama seems to always play well this time of year. He was eighth last week and is yet to finish outside the Top 13 this year in four events. He didn’t play that well at Riviera from 2021-23 before his victory in 2024. In seven career appearances at Riviera, Schauffele has five Top-15 finishes, including a fourth in his last appearance in 2024.

A Canadian has won here twice and they were both lefty Mike Weir, going back-to-back in 2003-04. Two years ago at Riviera, Adam Hadwin was the top Canadian at T4, while Adam Svensson was T10, Corey Conners T24, Mackenzie Hughes T31 and Nick Taylor T39. Taylor is +6600 this week with Taylor Pendrith +6600 and Conners +12500.

Genesis Invitational Golf Predictions

Like the field against Scottie Scheffler again but that’s priced at -400. The individual choice is the USA’s Harris English at +4000. He has been seventh and 12th the past two visits to Riviera. English has been solid so far in 2026, not finishing worse than 27th in four events.
