BMW Championship: PGA Tour Golf Picks, Predictions, and Tee Times
This weekend’s tourney features a field of just 50 players, with the top 30 advancing to next week’s Tour Championship
With the field shrinking, the challenge increases to find value at the sportsbook. Here’s a look at some picks to consider on the BMW Championship odds.
Red-Hot Glover Can’t Be Overlooked
It has been a long hard road back to contending on the PGA Tour for Lucas Glover. An unlikely candidate to even qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs after missing the cut 10 times during a run of 16 PGA Tour appearances that started in mid-January, Glover has revitalized his season and his pro golf career with top six finishes in five of his past six outings including back-to-back victories at the Wyndham Championship and FedEx St. Jude Championship.
Now ranked fourth on the FedExCup standings, trailing only Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, and Rory McIlroy, Glover has been sensational during his resurgence, shooting 69 or better in 21 of his past 22 rounds including five rounds of 64 or better. Humbled by a case of the yips that sent his career into a tailspin over the past decade, Glover is making the most of his second chance. And with his newfound control, he cannot be ignored as +3100 bet to make it three straight wins, and as a +300 bet to end Thursday as the round one leader.
JT Poston Enjoying Strong Stretch Run
Another veteran that endured hardship earlier this season, JT Poston has shone done the stretch. The 30-year-old regularly missed the cut during the first half of 2023, but has come to life in the past two months with top ten finishes in five outings before qualifying for this weekend with a 24th-place finish last weekend.
Poston enjoys plenty of experience at this event, and turned in a career-best 16th-place performance at the BMW Championship in 2019. And while victory has eluded him, Poston offers good value as a +352 bet to return to the top ten, and is a solid -106 wager to outpace Brendon Todd in round one action.
Spieth Poised for Breakthrough
Jordan Spieth raised eyebrows by missing the cut at both the US Open and the Genesis Scottish Open. However, the three-time major tournament winner showed up to play last weekend, opening the FedEx St. Jude Championship with a first round 63 on his way to a share of sixth place.
No stranger to this event, Spieth has produced three top ten and six top 20 finishes at the BMW Championship including a 19th-place finish a year ago, and his ability to rise to the occasion during the FedExCup Playoffs makes the 2015 champion worth taking as +450 bet to make the top five.
Picks: Lucas Glover to win (+3100); JT Poston top ten (+352); Jordan Spieth top five (+450)
