2026 U.S. Open Predictions, Best Bets and Golf Odds
Golf’s busy stretch of four majors in the span of four months continues with this week’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Long Island, New York. It could be one of the most difficult tests on the 2026 golf calendar, as this course traditionally plays firm and fast with severe penalties for finding the rough and tall grass instead of the fairway. When the U.S. Open was played at Shinnecock in 2018, Brooks Koepka won with a score of +1. Even +7 was good enough for a top-10 position.
Will a household name take care of business this week, or will a long shot lift the trophy? We have already seen both sides of the spectrum this year, as Rory McIlroy triumphed at the Masters for the second straight year before Aaron Rai improbably won the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club.
Let’s break down the U.S. Open odds and discuss the best bets to make.
U.S. Open odds
McIlroy is going off as the second choice, bidding for his second major victory of 2026 and his second U.S. Open crown (first since 2011). The Northern Irishman trails only world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler on the odds chart. Those two juggernauts are followed by Jon Rahm, Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young.
Here is the short list of U.S. Open favourites:
- Scottie Scheffler +455
- Rory McIlroy +940
- Jon Rahm +1025
- Xander Schauffele +1850
- Cameron Young +2000
- Matt Fitzpatrick +2500
- Tommy Fleetwood +2500
- Ludvig Aberg +2600
- Bryson DeChambeau +2700
- Brooks Koepka +2800
- Collin Morikawa +3300
- Russell Henley +3700
- Si Woo Kim +3800
- Sam Burns +3900
- Justin Rose +4100
U.S. Open best bet: Cameron Young to win at +2000 odds
Young has been red hot in 2026. The third-ranked American has placed in the top 10 in six of his last nine starts, including wins at The Players Championship in March and a couple of months ago at the Cadillac Championship. This stretch includes a third-place result at the Masters, his third top-10 effort in Augusta and his seventh across the four majors combined. It feels like the biggest win of all is coming soon for Young – and it very well could be this week in New York, which is his home state.
U.S. Open prediction: Tommy Fleetwood to win at +2500 odds
There is no denying that Fleetwood has not won as much as he should have at this point in his career. But if he keeps putting himself in position, it’s only a matter of time before he finds the winner’s circle again – perhaps even at a major. Fleetwood knows he can do it, because he triumphed at the Tour Championship last August for his first PGA Tour victory. The 35-year-old Englishman has not won yet in 2026, but he has delivered a whopping seven top-10 performances. At the 2018 Shinnecock U.S. Open, Fleetwood finished runner-up to Koepka by just a single stroke following a final-round 63. He owns three top-five finishes at the U.S. Open.
U.S. Open prediction: Matt Fitzpatrick to finish in the top five at +430 odds
There is a lot to like about Fitzpatrick’s chances this week. The fourth-ranked Englishman has been awesome this season, with six top-10 performances – including three victories and a runner-up showing at The Players Championship. He is coming off a second-place effort at the RBC Canadian Open on Sunday. It should also be noted that Fitzpatrick thrives on the big stage. The 31-year-old is a former U.S. Open champion (2022) and he has placed in the top 10 of five majors dating back to the start of 2022.
