2026 Truist Championship: PGA Tour Betting Odds, Prediction
It’s a second straight Signature Event on the PGA Tour this week with the Truist Championship from Charlotte, but because it’s also the week before the PGA Championship, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and a few other big names are skipping. Rory McIlroy is favoured on the golf odds.
Truist Championship
This event was known as the Wells Fargo Championship for years but switched to Truist in 2025. Quail Hollow Club, a long par 71 at 7,583 yards, returns as host after a one-year hiatus. The 2025 PGA Championship was held at the course (and won by Scheffler) so this tournament shifted to Philadelphia.
Austria’s Sepp Straka won it at 16-under 264, two up on Ireland’s Shane Lowry and American Justin Thomas. Straka seized the lead with a par on the 16th hole in the final round and shot 2-under 68, outdueling Lowry. In the 2024 version of this event at Quail Hollow, McIlroy won the tournament for a fourth time as he finished at 17-under 267 and five up on Xander Schauffele. Despite McIlroy’s stellar play at the event, there has never been a player who has successfully defended his title.
Because it’s a Signature Event, it’s a limited field with a max of 72 players and no 36-hole cut. Overall, seven of the world’s Top 10 are in the field. No. 4 Collin Morikawa originally was to play but opted to withdraw on Monday with no reason. The American, who won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February, has been dealing with some back problems. Andrew Putnam replaced Morikawa.
Two guys will have home-field advantage of sorts in Canadian Mackenzie Hughes and American Webb Simpson as both are residents of the Quail Hollow area. Simpson has two career top-five finishes at the Truist Championship, while Hughes is struggling with three straight missed cuts on the Tour and having replaced his long-time caddie, Julien Trudeau, a few weeks ago. Hughes was sixth in Charlotte in 2024.
Note that there is an opposite-field event this week, the ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic in South Carolina.
Truist Championship Golf Odds
Rory McIlroy is the +580 favourite as he tees it up for the first time since repeating at the Masters in early April. McIlroy also had a runner-up early in the year in California but has only played five Tour events overall in 2026.
Cameron Young (+880) enters off winning the Cadillac Championship Signature Event in Miami on Sunday. He led wire-to-wire even after calling one-stroke penalty on himself while playing the par-4 second hole after causing his ball to move in the fairway (still made par). Young also won the Players Championship in March.
Xander Schauffele (+1225) was the runner-up in the 2024 tournament to McIlroy and also in 2023 to Wyndham Clark. Schauffele hasn’t been worse than T12 in his past four Tour events this year but yet to win. No player on Tour is hotter than England’s Matt Fitzpatrick (+1650) as he has won his past two tournaments, the RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event with brother Alex. No golfer has won three PGA Tour events in a row since 2017.
No Canadian has won this event. Corey Conners was the top finisher last year at T11, while Nick Taylor was T17, Adam Hadwin T60 and Taylor Pendrith 65th. Conners is +7800 this week, with Taylor +8600, Pendrith +12000 and Mackenzie Hughes +22000.
Truist Championship Golf Predictions
Will take long-shot Sungjae Im at +17500. The Korean is having a tough year but was fourth and eighth the past two stagings of this event at Quail Hollow.
