2026 Rocket Classic PGA Tour Betting Odds: Value in taking Hideki Matsuyama to win
The PGA Tour’s penultimate event of the 2026 “regular season” and its only annual event in Michigan is this week’s Rocket Classic from Detroit. It’s not in a great spot on the schedule and some big names are skipping, but a pretty solid field overall with Cameron Young as the favourite on the golf odds.

This tournament has only been around since 2019 and is the first PGA Tour event to be held completely within the Detroit city limits, and that’s a madhouse area for golf. But this might be the last one there for a while as this is the last event sponsored by the mortgage company. Rocket has been a Tour partner for 13 years – it also sponsored an event pre-Detroit in Washington, D.C., for five years — and could have extended its sponsorship through 2027 but declined. PGA Tour officials are hopeful they can keep this event in Motown but no word yet.
Usually, Americans dominate in terms of winning PGA Tour events this time of year, but the last USA winner of the Rocket Classic was Rickie Fowler in 2023. The defending champion is South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter. He and Americans Max Greyserman and Chris Kirk finished 72 holes at 22-under 266 and then it took five playoff holes for Potgieter to come out on top.
He made about an 18-foot birdie putt on that fifth extra hole for his first PGA Tour win when at the time Potgieter was the youngest player on the PGA Tour. Now 21, he has not won since and not having a great year with only two Top 10s and a handful of missed cuts, including at last week’s 3M Open in Minnesota. Potgieter is +10,000 to repeat and no player has done that in Detroit.
Aussie Cameron Davis won in 2024 and ’21 and is the only two-time champion here but hasn’t won anywhere else in his career and is a +25,000 long shot having a rough season with zero Top 10s. My pick last year was the USA’s Taylor Moore at +4000, but he missed the cut after rounds of 70-69.
Overall, four of the world’s Top 10 and eight of the Top 20 are playing. Multiple-time major champions Jordan Spieth (+6500) and Brooks Koepka (+4500) will make their Rocket Classic debuts.
Detroit Golf Club’s North Course is the host and played to par 72 in previous editions at around 7,370 yards but has been configured to play at par 70 at about 7,320 – the course underwent a $16 million renovation after last year’s tournament — for its potential final run there. It surely still will take well into double digits under par to win.
Rocket Classic Golf Odds
Five of the top six favourites are Americans in Cameron Young (+1000), Chris Gotterup (+1800), Xander Schauffele (+1800), Wyndham Clark (+2000) and Jackson Koivun (+2000). The only non-USA player among the favourites is South Korea’s Si Woo Kim at +2000.
Young has two wins this year and comes off a runner-up at the British Open. He also has a runner-up in Detroit in 2022, albeit by five shots. Gotterup is tied for the Tour lead with three victories in 2026. In three times playing in Detroit, his best result is 25th.
Schauffele still searches for that first 2026 win and plays the event for the first time. He has five Top 10s on the year and off an 18th at the British. Clark won this year’s U.S. Open but missed the cut last time at the British. He also had a missed cut here last year. The rising rookie superstar Koivun, 21, took the 3M Open in Minnesota on Sunday, likely the first of several Tour wins coming career. He played here as an amateur in 2024 and missed the cut.
No Canadian has won here, but a couple have finished runner-up. Ben Silverman was the top finisher last year at T67, while Adam Hadwin T78. Adam Svensson and Ashton McCulloch missed the cut. Corey Conners is +7000 this week with Sudarshan Yellamaraju +10,000, Nick Taylor +10,000, Mackenzie Hughes +12,500, Taylor Pendrith +15000 and Svensson +100,000.
Rocket Classic Golf Predictions
Will go with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama at +3000. He was T14 at the British Open and then T3 on Sunday at the 3M Open. Matsuyama was 13th here last year.
