2026 PGA Tour Odds, Predictions: Scottie Scheffler headlines FedEx St. Jude Championship

The PGA Tour’s three-event postseason begins Thursday with the Top 70 in FedExCup points eligible to play at the FedEx St. Jude Championship from Memphis – all of the world’s Top 10 are playing. No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is the +550 favourite on the golf odds.

PGA Tour rookie sensation Jackson Koivun entered last week’s regular-season finale at the Wyndham Championship as the “bubble boy” at No. 70 in the FedExCup points, and he stayed there barely. A bogey on his 72nd hole at Sedgefield Country Club likely would have knocked Koivun out, but he hit a perfect drive and finished with par. Matt Wallace and Davis Thompson both had chances to still knock Koivun out playing after him but couldn’t capitalize.

The unlikely player to finish at No. 71 is the USA’s Steven Fisk. He fell out when Michael Brennan won the Wyndham Championship to become the lone golfer there to jump inside the Top 70, doing so all the way from No. 105. Brennan, +5500 this week, had to finish at least in a three-way tie for second to move on.

Canadians Taylor Pendrith, AJ Ewart and Mackenzie Hughes couldn’t mount enough of a finish last week to get into the Top 70. The Top 50 in points after this Sunday move on to the second playoff event with Maverick McNealy currently at 50 and Harris English first out at 51st. Also among those on the outside looking in are Jordan Spieth (54th), and Canada’s Sudarshan Yellamaraju (57th), Corey Conners (59th) and Nick Taylor (63rd).

The defending champion of the FedEx St. Jude Championship is England’s Justin Rose. He and American JJ Spaun finished 72 holes at 16-under 264, and Rose then won a three-hole sudden-death playoff. Rose made six birdies over the last eight holes he played, the last one a 10-foot putt on the 18th on the third playoff hole. Spaun made a 30-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole to keep it going.

Another Englishman in Tommy Fleetwood led by two shots and three holes to play but imploded and finished one shot out of the playoff as did Scottie Scheffler. Rose is +5000 to repeat, which no one has done in the tournament since Ernie Els in 1997 when it was played in New York.

TPC Southwind in Memphis has been the host since this was renamed from the Northern Trust in 2022 and became part of the playoffs; the course hosted the “regular” St. Jude event prior. It’s a par 70 at 7,288 yards with plenty of water via lakes, streams and ponds. It has taken at least 15 under to win here every year and three of the four have gone to a playoff.

There is no cut in any of the playoff events. The only eligible player not in the field as of publication is Daniel Berger, who sits 60th in points so he’s not going to advance.

FedEx St. Jude Championship Golf Odds

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+550) could make this disappointing season with just one victory not so disappointing should he win the FedExCup – which he did two years ago. We last saw Scheffler with his fifth runner-up of the year a couple of weeks ago at the 3M Open. He hasn’t won this event but was third and fourth the past two years.

Rory McIlroy (+1300) opted to skip this event last year because he was high enough in points to advance, but he’s playing this year despite the same scenario. McIlroy last played the British Open and was a disappointing 40th. He has a best result of third here in 2023.

Xander Schauffele (+1800), Hideki Matsuyama (+2200), Tommy Fleetwood (+2200), Cameron Young (+2200), Sam Burns (+2200) and Matt Fitzpatrick (+2200) round out the favourites. Matsuyama was the 2024 winner by two shots, and Schauffele was one of two runners-up. Fleetwood was in control last year before that late fade to third place; he also was third in 2023. Young was fifth last year and Fitzpatrick 32nd.

No Canadian has won this event. Taylor Pendrith was T28 last year, with Nick Taylor T44, Corey Conners T50 and Mackenzie Hughes T56. The qualifiers this year as mentioned above and all needing very good finishes are Conners (+8000), Taylor (+15000) and Sudarshan Yellamaraju (+22500).

FedEx St. Jude Championship Golf Predictions

Like an American overall but will go with Patrick Cantlay at +3300. Hasn’t won on Tour since 2022 but has been ninth, 12th and runner-up the past three years in Memphis. He also comes off a T8 last time out in Detroit.
