2026 3M Open PGA Tour Betting Odds: Scottie Scheffler a heavy favourite in Minnesota

With the last of the four major championships in the rearview mirror, the focus on the PGA Tour now turns to next month’s FedExCup playoffs. And in a bit of a surprise, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is teeing it up this week at the 3M Open in Minnesota’s Twin Cities area of Blaine. Otherwise, it’s a pretty weak field following the British Open.

The Claret Jug was won Sunday by New Zealand’s Ryan Fox for his first major title; he was originally in this field but likely still celebrating and to no surprise withdrew on Monday. Three of the four major winners in 2026 then will not have played in the next week’s event. One addition this week was Italy’s Stefano Mazzoli, who won the opposite-field Corales Puntacana Championship on Sunday in just his third start on the PGA Tour. Now he’s a full member and +35,000 to go back-to-back this week.

Scheffler is the only world Top 10 guy playing. In fact, Scheffler will become only the fifth world No. 1 to play in Minnesota since the world golf rankings began on April 6, 1986. A world No. 1 has yet to win an event in the state. Hazeltine has hosted a few majors.

This particular event has only been around since 2019 and won each year but in 2024 (Venezuela’s Jhonattan Vegas) by Americans. The defending champion is Kurt Kitayama. He went bananas last year on the weekend, shooting a career-best and tournament-record-tying 60 on Saturday to enter the final round within one shot of the leaders.

Kitayama then birdied six of the first eight holes Sunday and finished with a 65 to end at 23-under 261 and one up on Sam Stevens, who didn’t have a round worse than 66. That was the 33-year-old Kitayama’s second career Tour win, and he is yet to add a third. I simply recommended an American winner in 2025 but individually leaned Maverick McNealy. That was a bust as he shot 71-71 and missed the cut.

TPC Twin Cities, located about 15 miles from Minneapolis-Saint Paul and designed by the late Arnold Palmer and his company, is a par 72 at 7,431 yards; it helps to be long off the tee to win here. Every winner has finished at least 15 under par.

3M Open Golf Odds

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler plays the event for the first time and is a ridiculously priced +270 to win. Still just that one January victory so far this year with Scheffler off yet another Top 10, however, with a T4 at the British Open as the defending champion.

Defending champion Kurt Kitayama is +2200, and no one has repeated at the event. He is having an OK season with four Top 10s and 11 straight made cuts entering. Kitayama was sixth in 2024 in his first visit to the event.

Maverick McNealy (+2700), Jackson Koivun (+3000), Hideki Matsuyama (+3000) and Keith Mitchell (+3000) round out the favourites. McNealy had that MC last year but was third in 2024. He has just two Top 10s this year. The 21-year-old rookie Koivun plays here for the first tie. Matsuyama is in the field for the first time since a 30th in 2023. Mitchell has a pair of fifth-place finishes in the event.

No Canadian has won here. Adam Svensson was the top finisher last year at T14 (had a first-round 60), while Adam Hadwin was T44, Mackenzie Hughes T53, Ben Silverman T61 and Taylor Pendrith T68. Corey Conners is +4500 this week, Sudarshan Yellamaraju +6000, Pendrith +8000, Hughes +10,000, AJ Ewart +15,000, Hadwin +35,000, Svensson +50,000 and Silverman +50,000.

Even though Scottie Scheffler is the best player in the field, no way I recommend him winning at only +270. So, we go with last year’s runner-up in the USA’s Sam Stevens (+5000). He also had a 10th in 2023. The 30-year-old is yet to win career on the PGA Tour.
