Singapore Grand Prix Predictions, Formula 1 Odds
Verstappen arrives in Singapore rising a career-best five-race win streak, capped by his victory in the Italian Grand Prix three weeks ago, and now enjoys a dominating 126-point lead atop the F1 Drivers Standings with just five races remaining on the 2022 schedule.
Verstappen has failed to earn the win in five career appearances at this event. However, that has not dampened his position on the Singapore Grand Prix odds, where he enters the weekend leading the way as a heavy -222 favourite. After reaching the podium in his past two outings, Charles Leclerc sits second to Verstappen as a +384 bet, while Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate rounds out the top of the odds at +1000.
Singapore Grand Prix Race Time, Weather Forecast
Lights out at the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix is scheduled for 8:00am ET on Sunday morning. Marina Bay Street Circuit is once again the site of this race, which returns to the F1 schedule for the fist time since 2019. The track measures 5.063 kilometres in length, and will feature three DRS detection zones. There is a high risk of thunderstorms throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday, and rain is expected as night falls on Sunday, with the temperature expected to hover in the in the high 20s Celsius at race time.
Can Anyone Stop Verstappen?
Currently demonstrating the best driving of his career, it appears clinching this season’s F1 crown will be just a formality for Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver has paved the win to another title by taking home the checkered flag in 11 of the first 16 races of the season, and reaching the podium in all but one of the 14 races he has managed to complete.
Verstappen’s recent dominance is made all the more impressive considering he incurred penalties that forced him to start from the back of the grid in Belgium, and from the No. 7 spot in Italy.
With that said, the challenge for sports bettors is finding value in Verstappen’s odds in Sunday’s race. The first place to look is on the odds to produce Sunday’s fastest lap, where Verstappen leads the way as a -125 bet. The 24-year-old has recorded the fastest lap in two of his past three outings. But while a number of recent races have been run on tracks sporting lengthy straightaways, Singapore is likely to be a test of the handling of Verstappen’s ride, particularly if it rains.
Vettel, Hamilton Top List of Value Bets
Considering Ferrari’s continued struggles to overcome technical problems, questionable team orders, and unforced errors, the last thing that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. want to do on Sunday is to race under the lights in the rain. However, considering his recent form, and his impressive drive to second place in the last edition of this race three years ago, Leclerc offers value as a +384 bet to claim his fourth win of the season, and as a +200 wager to be this weekend’s fastest qualifier.
Sebastian Vettel will make his final career appearance in Singapore as the most recent winner of this race. Indeed, Vettel and Hamilton have dominated on this track in recent years, combining to win nine of the past 11 editions of this race.
While Vettel no longer enjoys a car that can keep pace with the likes of Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes, his experience in Singapore make him a solid +138 wager to finish Sunday’s race in the points. As for Hamilton, Singapore represents one of his best chances to earn his first win of the season, and fans of the Silver Arrows should get in on the seven-time F1 champion as a -125 bet to reach the podium.
Singapore Grand Prix Prediction
Max Verstappen fastest lap (-125); Lewis Hamilton podium finish (-125); Sebastian Vettel points finish (+138)
