Ti-Cats vs. RedBlacks Prediction: CFL Week 21 Point Spread, Odds
The RedBlacks return to close out their schedule following a 38-31 loss in Toronto that doomed them to a third-place finish in the CFL East and dumped them to 1-6-0 over their past seven contests. The Tiger Cats have been playing some of their best ball of the season despite being eliminated from playoff contention. The Ti-Cats are coming off a dominating 42-20 victory over Calgary and have gone 5-1-0 over their past six games, a run that features a decisive 37-21 home win over the RedBlacks in Week 16.
Their recent swoon has not kept the RedBlacks from emerging as 1-point home favourites on the CFL Week 21 odds. The Tiger Cats trail as solid -105 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is pegged at 50.5.
CFL Week 21 Odds and Betting
The Tiger Cats have dominated when facing the RedBlacks in recent seasons. With last month’s 37-21 home victory, the Ti-Cats improved to 10-1-0 in their past 11 dates with the RedBlacks including a 5-1-0 record in Ottawa over that stretch. Last month’s win also marked Hamilton’s most decisive victory over the RedBlacks in four years. But the Ti-Cats have done a solid all-round job of containing the Ottawa offence, allowing just 18.3 points per game over their past six meetings and limited the RedBlacks to 16 or fewer points seven times in their past 11 clashes. Making matters worse for the RedBlacks is the Tiger Cats’ recent offensive explosion that has produced 30.8 points per game during their 5-1 run. Conversely, the RedBlacks have scored 16 or fewer points four times during their 1-6-0 run, fueling a brutal five-game losing streak against the spread.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
With both jobs on the line and an impressive season-ending run on the line, the Tiger Cats should have little trouble finding motivation in Friday’s season finale. Indeed, this team responded to a crushing 31-10 loss to Winnipeg two weeks ago with an outstanding effort in last week’s 42-20 rout of the Stampeders. Bo Levi Mitchell once again silenced the naysayers with his strongest performance of the season, tossing for 450 yards and five touchdowns in the win and has now found the end zone 12 times during the team’s late-season resurgence. Mitchell also tossed for two scores in each of the Ti-Cats’ previous two dates with Ottawa this season. Running back Greg Bell is coming off season-high 139-yard performance and has run for five touchdowns in his past six appearances.
Ottawa RedBlacks
Despite having nothing to play for except halting their current losing streak, the RedBlacks are reportedly set to give their veterans plenty of playing time on Friday night. Dru Brown is once again expected to get the call under center after turning in a sterling effort in last weekend’s loss to the Argonauts. Brown tossed for 400 yards and four touchdowns in his first start since getting sidelined by injury five weeks ago. However, concerns linger after Ottawa ball carriers rushed for just 28 total yards and failed to produce a scoring run for a fifth straight game.
