Saskatchewan Roughriders CFL Prediction: 2021 Season Betting Odds and Preview

Cody Farjado, Roughriders, 2019

Quarterback Cody Fajardo threw for a league-best 4,302 yards in 2019, and was the West nominee for Most Outstanding Player.

The Roughriders will challenge the Bombers for top spot in the West and don’t be surprised if they take that position from them. Head Coach Craig Dickenson brought in former Eskimos Head Coach Jason Maas to be the team’s new offensive coordinator. He’ll game plan for one of the league’s top Quarterbacks in Cody Fajardo. Fajardo threw for a league-best 4,302 yards in 2019, and was the West nominee for Most Outstanding Player.

Fajardo will have a large variety of receivers in camp as the team has 16 receivers on the roster including returning veterans Shaq Evans, Kyran Moore and Jordan Williams-Lambert. In the backfield William Powell will be the prime back and will compete for the CFL rushing title. The Green Riders turned some heads this off-season signing former NFL first rounder Paxton Lynch. Lynch spent five seasons south of the border with the Broncos, Steelers and Seahawks. He’s hoping to revive his football career in Canada.

On defence, the team lost the defending sack leader Charleston Hughes (Toronto), Cameron Judge (Toronto), Solomon Elimimian (retirement) and Derrick Moncrief (NFL). The team signed CFL All-Star Larry Dean (Edmonton) and Freddie Bishop (Toronto) but in one of their first workouts with the team – both went down with season ending injuries. Bringing in Deon Lacey (NFL) will help at Linebacker. However, the front seven is now a question mark entering the season.
