The Stampeders were idle last week after falling 22-15 in Hamilton in Week 17 to extend their current SU losing streak to three games. Despite their recent slide, the Stamps remain just four points back of Saskatchewan in the race for the third and final playoff spot in the CFL West Division, with a game in hand. The Roughriders find themselves on the brink of freefall after getting outclassed in last week’s 38-13 home loss to the Tiger-Cats, and have now surrendered 38.8 points per game during a dismal five-game slide.

The Stampeders return home perched as 3.5-point favourites on the CFL Week 19 odds. The Roughriders are pegged as a +150 moneyline bet to claim their first road victory in seven games, and the total is listed at 48.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

Friday night’s matchup marks the third and final meeting of the season between these CFL West rivals. These teams split their first two dates, with road teams emerging victorious in both. Overall, the Stampeders have held the edge in head-to-head action, claiming victory in seven of 10 overall dates with the Riders since 2018. However, the Roughriders have rolled to victory in two of their past three trips to Cowtown, including a 29-26 victory in Calgary back in June.

Recent matchups between these squads have been high-scoring, with the total topping 52 in three of their past four. However, the UNDER has paid out in three of their past four tilts at McMahon Stadium.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders are clearly in desperation mode as they prepare for Friday night’s contest. The squad was humiliated last time out by a Ti-Cats squad that had been struggling to generate offence, but which faced little resistance while racking up 548 total yards of offence while rolling to an easy 38-13 win.

The Riders’ passing game was once again missing in action. Quarterback Jake Dolegala compiled just 154 yards while failing to find the end zone for the second time during the team’s current 0-5 run. Overall, Dolegala has connected on six scoring passes during the team’s current slide, but has not helped his own cause by tossing five picks over that stretch. One positive for the Riders is the return of rusher Jamal Morrow, who scampered for 120 yards and one score against Hamilton after missing the three previous games. However, the Riders defence must find a way to slam the door early after allowing an average of 22.5 points before the half during the current swoon.

Calgary Stampeders

Fortunately for Saskatchewan, the Stampeders have been far from a serious offensive threat during their current three-game slide. The Stamps have scored a meagre 16.3 points per game during their 0-3 run, and have also scored 20 or fewer points in three of their past four home dates.

Calgary’s woes have not come from a lack of effort or opportunity, especially in their last match versus Hamilton. The squad tallied 338 total yards while controlling possession for 33:28. However, a lack of finish and discipline has not helped. The Stamps piled up 105 yards in penalties while struggling to drive the ball into Ti-Cats territory, and saw all their points come off field goals in their loss to Hamilton. Like Dolegala, Stamps pivot Jake Maier has struggled to seal the deal. Maier failed to toss a touchdown pas for the second time in four outings and compiled just 239 passing yards in the loss to Hamilton. The Stampeders ground game has also failed to contribute, producing no scores despite averaging 116 yards per game over the past three contests.

Someone has to win this game, so the best value is found in the Stampeders ekeing out a narrow win on a chilly night in Calgary.
