BC Lions’ QB Dane Evans Will be Week 8 Starter
Vernon Adams Jr., the BC Lions’ number one quarterback, hurt his knee when sacked in the first quarter of Week 7’s home tilt against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He exited the contest and never returned. There was no official word on his status earlier in the week, but on Wednesday the team made the official announcement that Dane Evans would start in Week 8.

Dane Evans to Start at QB for Lions Against Elks
Evans did relatively well in over three quarters of play versus Saskatchewan, throwing for 219 yards off 16-for-25 passes. He hit Alexander Hollins for a 27-yard score shortly after entering the contest. The Lions went on to win the match 19-9, improving their record to 5-1 and ensuring that they keep leading the West Division.
It isn’t as though BC’s man under centre heads into the bout against Edmonton without significant experience. He was the main guy in Hamilton last season, tossing for 3,883 yards (8.5 per attempt), 16 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
Furthermore, sending Evans into action this week is sound given the opposition. The Edmonton Elks are winless at 0-7 and are tied with the Tiger-Cats for the worst defence in the league, having conceded 185 points so far.
As of Wednesday, July 26, there is no official word on how long Vernon Adams Jr. will be off the field.
