Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 13 Point Spread, Odds
The Tiger-Cats are 5.5-point favourites on the CFL odds with a total of 56.5 that is easily the highest of the week.
CFL Odds and Betting
This marks the 54th Labour Day Classic between Toronto and Hamilton with JUNO Award winner JJ Wilde performing the halftime show. The Ticats have one major advantage coming off a bye week. They are 4-0 since Scott Milanovich took over as head coach in 2024 coming off a bye, and the offence averaged 35 points in those four. That’s good coaching.
By comparison, the Argonauts have lost four games this season when scoring at least 30 points. That includes back in Week 5 at BMO Field when Hamilton was a 3.5-point favourite and rolled to a 51-38 victory. Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 332 yards and five scores in the Ticats’ fourth straight regular-season win in the series. Mitchell improved his career record against Toronto to 16-2. Three of his TD passes were to Kenny Lawler, who had six catches for 207 yards.
The Argos pulled to within 44-32 on Khalan Laborn’s one-yard run at 8:01, but the two-point conversion was unsuccessful and Hamilton’s Isaiah Wooden Sr. returned the kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown to all but end it. Toronto’s Nick Arbuckle finished 27-of-38 passing for 339 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The Argos were without a few key injured players.
Hamilton is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings overall, and the over is 4-1 in those.
Toronto Argonauts
Toronto was a 3.5-point home dog last Saturday vs. the B.C. Lions but snapped a three-game skid with a 52-34 victory, easily a season high in points scored despite trailing 14-3 after a quarter. Nick Arbuckle had one of the games of his career in throwing for 430 yards (career best) and three scores while rushing for another TD. Jake Herslow had 149 yards receiving and two scores. Toronto is No. 2 in the CFL in scoring offence at 29.9 PPG but last in scoring defence at 32.2 PPG.
The offence helped the defence last week by holding possession for 33:18 compared to BC’s 26:42 mark. That despite Argos No. 1 wideout Damonte Coxie sitting with a head injury. Coxie has posted 48 catches for 854 yards and six scores this year. Good chance of playing this week. Arbuckle now leads the CFL in passing yards with 3,463 and is second with 20 TD throws. What happens when Chad Kelly is ready to come off the injured list? Toronto is 3-8 SU in its past 11 road games.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
The annual Labour Day Classic is sold out, the second home sellout for the Ticats this year after Aug. 7 against the B.C. Lions. East Division-leading Hamilton was on the bye in Week 12 and is on a two-game skid following a 29-9 loss in Saskatchewan on Aug. 16 as a 3.5-point underdog. QB Bo Levi Mitchell had been the CFL Most Outstanding Player betting favourite, but he really struggled in being sacked five times and throwing two picks (had three total entering). He went 16-for-31 in the air for 201 yards to see his streak of 300-yard passing games end at four straight. The Ticats managed only a two field goals from four trips deep into the Roughriders territory. It was the first time this year Mitchell didn’t throw a TD pass.
The Ticats were very banged up with several players out injured, including safety Stavros Katsantonis, cornerback Jamal Peters and weakside linebacker Ray Wilborn, all starters. It was the team’s fourth game in 22nd days. Not clear if they can play this week. Kyler Fisher made his first start in place of Wilborn and had 12 defensive tackles, the sixth-highest single-game total in Ticat history. That defence is allowing 28.3 PPG this season. The over is 6-3 in Hamilton’s past nine at home.
