2026 CFL Week 9 Picks and Betting Odds: Roughriders vs. Elks highlights the schedule
Week 9 of the CFL season features a few mismatches with one absolute gem closing out the schedule.
While the Bombers (vs. B.C.), Als (@ Ottawa) and Stamps (@ Hamilton) should easily take care of business, I have my eyes squarely on the Roughriders visiting the Elks in a rematch of last week’s 36-34 walk-off win for Edmonton.

B.C. Lions at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
With Nathan Rourke injured and Chase Brice coming off a terrible first career CFL start, the Lions are turning to rookie quarterback Kaidon Salter in Winnipeg. The 23-year-old looked good in relief of Brice last week, but he’ll have his hands full against a veteran Blue Bombers group.
Add in the fact this is a short week, while B.C. will also be without running back James Butler and defensive back T.J. Lee III and you get a recipe for disaster for the Leos.
Pick: Blue Bombers SU and ATS (-7.5)
Montreal Alouettes at Ottawa RedBlacks
Davis Alexander, Tyson Philpot and the entire Alouettes group were uncharacteristically sloppy last week and they still managed to cover a massive double digit spread against Hamilton, which was out only miss of Week 8.
It’s a quick turnaround for Montreal in Week 9, but luckily they’ll be in Ottawa to face the CFL’s last remaining winless team. The RedBlacks won’t win this game, but they’re coming off a bye week and they started building momentum in a two-point loss against Winnipeg a couple weeks ago.
Pick: Alouettes SU, RedBlacks ATS (+6.5)
Calgary Stampeders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Vernon Adams Jr. is an early front-runner for M.O.P. with a league-leading 20 touchdown passes and no interceptions, which is a CFL-record start to the season.
Calgary absolutely stomped all over the Blue Bombers with 52 points last week and I don’t see a Tabbies team that managed just 228 yards of offence last week sticking around with the Stampeders.
Pick: Stampeders SU and ATS (-4.5)
Saskatchewan Roughriders at Edmonton Elks
This is easily the best game of the week as the Elks and Riders close out a home-and-home in Edmonton on Saturday. I’m just hoping for another classic after last week saw the Elks pull out a 36-34 win on a Vincent Blanchard 57-yard walk-off field goal.
These are two really good teams and it’s hard to beat a really good team twice. I think it’s a no-brainer to take the points as I’m banking on the Riders winning outright.
