If you have lots of extra cash burning a hole in your pocket and you’d like to see the most anticipated boxing match in recent history, today is your lucky day. Tickets for the fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will be available for sale today at 3pm EST.
Odds have Mayweather set as a -200 favourite at Sports Interaction.
The general public will have the opportunity today to buy tickets for the fight, which will be held on May 2 in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand; although the chance of scoring one might be a challenge. USA Today’s Martin Rogers wrote that he believes there will only be about 500 to 1,000 tickets for sale.
The cost of the tickets will start at $1,500 and could go as high as $7,500 with a limit of four per transaction. The MGM will also make closed circuit viewing available at the hotel in addition to airing the fight on the TVs throughout the casino. The event is expected to be one of the most successful pay-per-view events in history. Sports Interaction oddsmakers have even posted odds on how popular the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao PPV event will be with bettors being able to wager on whether the event will be over or under 3.8 million buys. Over 3.8 million is currently priced at -167.
There will be about 35,000 to 50,000 closed circuit seats available in Las Vegas at various MGM Grand properties, including the Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, The Signature, Aria, Vdara, Delano, Monte Carlo, Mirage, New York-New York, Excalibur, Luxor and Circus Circus.
The tickets have taken longer than usual to become available for sale because of disagreements between fight promoters and officials at the MGM Grand. One of the disputes was allegedly over allocation of tickets, hotel rooms and credentials, all of which delayed the release of the tickets.
