Stampeders vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

The Stamps are 7-point favourites at Sports Interaction.

Betting Analysis

Early betting at Sports Interaction on the 7-point spread is heavy on the Stampeders and even heavier on the over 47 points. On the moneyline, Calgary is -255 and Saskatchewan +205.

In the race to 10 points, the Stamps are -172 with the Roughriders at +130. First team to score, Calgary is -154 with a touchdown the +275 favourite. Saskatchewan is +110 to score first and a touchdown is +375. On the winning margin prop, Stamps by 7-12 points (+325), 1-6 points (+450) and 13-18 points (+450) are all favoured ahead of Roughriders by 1-6 (+600).

Calgary has covered five of the past six meetings in this series overall and seven of the past 10 in Saskatchewan. Last year, the Stamps won one of the lowest-scoring CFL games of the year at Mosaic Stadium, 15-9 in Week 14. The two teams will play again there in Week 10. The total has gone under in five straight meetings.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stamps had little trouble last week in beating visiting Montreal 25-8 but failed to cover a 19.5-point spread. Calgary star QB Bo Levi Mitchell was in some question with an injury and wasn’t 100 per cent but completed his first 12 passes and finished 25 of 34 for 292 yards with two scores and a pick. Mitchell passed Doug Flutie on Calgary’s all-time passing yardage list. Eric Rogers caught nine passes for 113 yards and a touchdown. The Stamps’ defence had two picks and two sacks.

Calgary has scored more than 99 points than it has allowed thus far and is outgaining teams by an average of 163.6 yards per game. The team has managed to cover seven straight games in Week 7.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders pulled one of the upsets of the season last week, winning as 10-point underdogs at Hamilton 31-20 – their second straight win over the Tiger-Cats. This time, the Saskatchewan outscored Hamilton 24-3 in the second half. Brandon Bridge finished 17 of 22 for 165 yards and a touchdown. The Roughriders rushed for 218 yards and a score, an 80-yarder by Marcus Thigpen.

Late in the third quarter, Christion Jones returned a punt 61 yards for a TD. This will be the fourth straight game that injured QB Zach Collaros (head injury) will miss. Duron Carter has been playing defensive back since Week 2 but reportedly could return to offence this week. The Riders are 1-4 ATS in their past five Saturday games.
