April 11, 2016 – The Washington Capitals have been the favorites to win the cup since the beginning of the season, and they’ve maintained a tight grip on that standing, even as the Kings, the Blackhawks and the Ducks fought for the lead. The Capitals are currently sitting at +400 to win the Stanley Cup, with the Los Angeles Kings behind them at +700.

Feb. 18, 2016 – The reigning NHL champions, the Chicago Blackhawks, are listed as +700 to win a second straight, and are on a bit of a hot streak, winning seven out of their last 10 games, which has helped close the gap on the Washington Capitals. The Capitals have long been a front-runner for best odds to win the Stanley Cup, dating back to the beginning of the regular season and they hold +340 odds to hoist Lord Stanley.

While Chicago and Washington battle it out for the top spot, the Florida Panthers have quietly made up plenty of ground to round out the top six teams favored to win it all at +1300. Their jump in odds is due to a 12-game winning streak earlier in the season that has lead to the league’s second best goal differential at +32.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Minnesota Wild have struggled to ride the wave of the last few seasons successes, seeing the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. They’re currently +4000 favorites to win the Finals after a five-game losing streak while only managing to win three times in their last 16 games.

Not a single one of Canada’s seven teams are on track to make the playoffs this season.
