2025 Ryder Cup: PGA Tour Golf Betting Odds
The final major event in golf this year and by far the biggest team competition in the sport is this week’s Ryder Cup between the United States and Europe from Bethpage Black in New York starting on Friday. The Americans are -145 to win back the Cup, Europe +155 and a tie +1100 on the golf odds.
Ryder Cup
There are 28 total matches in the competition, eight foursomes, eight four-balls and 12 Sunday singles. There will be four foursome matches both Friday and Saturday mornings where each two-man team plays one ball per hole and players hit alternate shots until said hole is compete. Four-balls will take place Friday and Saturday afternoon where four balls are on in play on every hole. Each team counts the lowest of its two scores. All 12 players on both sides compete in Sunday singles, where the player with the lower score wins the hole. If the score if tied on a particular hole, the hole is halved.
You can bet on the first player out in singles for both sides with Scottie Scheffler as the +175 favourite for the USA and world No. 2 Rory McIlroy as the +175 favourite for Europe. How fun would that be? For total matches in the event to reach an 18th hole, 10 or fewer is -135 with 11 or more at +105.
With 28 total matches, there are 28 total points at stake. If there is a tie, and there was in 1989, then Europe retains the Ryder Cup thanks to its 16.5-11.5 route in Italy two years ago. The Europeans have won eight of the past Ryder Cups. The home team has won the past five as well with the USA taking it in a 19-9 rout in 2021 at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin by a score of 17-11 at Hazeltine in Minnesota.
It’s the first time the Black course at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y., hosts, and it’s considered one of the toughest public tracks in the USA that usually plays to par 70 at 7,400 yards. It has hosted two U.S. Opens (2002 & ’09) and the 2019 PGA Championship. It will become one of just seven courses to host a U.S. Open, PGA Championship and Ryder Cup.
Team Europe’s captain is former world No. 1 Luke Donald, and he has five guys with Ryder Cup experience led by Rory McIlroy with a 16-13-4 record (18 points) in the event and Justin Rose at 14-9-3 (15.5 points). Keegan Bradley is the Team USA captain, and he could have made an argument picking himself as a playing captain after a strong 2025 but opted not to. There are a total of 30 career Ryder Cup points earned among the 12 American players. Justin Thomas has the most with eight thanks to a 7-4-2 record in the tournament. A total of eight USA players have Ryder Cup experience.
The United States has by far the best player in the world in No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who won the Procore Championship on Sept. 14 for his sixth PGA Tour victory of 2025. A total of 10 of the 12 American Ryder Cup players teed it up in California for that tournament to avoid any rust ahead of the Ryder Cup.
The Procore Championship was supposed to be essentially a Ryder Cup training camp, and Scheffler won anyways. He joined Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer as the only players since 1960 to win at least six times in consecutive seasons.
Ryder Cup Golf Odds
By world rankings, the Americans look to have the superior team on paper, but that rarely matters at a Ryder Cup. The USA also has four rookies in Russell Henley, J.J. Spaun, Ben Griffin and Cameron Young. Europe has one first-timer in Rasmus Højgaard.
European captain Luke Donald has been here before as he was also the captain two years ago, and 11 of the 12 members of the victorious 2023 Ryder Cup team are back. Donald used the same four pairings for both foursomes sessions in 2023 in Italy and won those matches 7-1. The away side has won just three times in the past 30 years, although all were Europe.
I like the value of England’s Justin Rose at +2000 for most European points as his Ryder Cup record as noted above has been worth 15.5 points, second-most among Team Europe players behind Rory Mcllroy’s 18, but McIlroy is not great value at +350 to lead Europe.
Ryder Cup Golf Predictions
Team USA wins the Ryder Cup by a margin of 1-3 points (+350), and Cameron Young has the most points by an American at +1400 even though he’s a rookie. He’s a New York native who in 2017 became the first amateur to win the New York State Open with a course-record 64 at the Black course.
