Packers vs. Giants Point Spread: NFL Week 14 Odds, Prediction
One of the hottest teams in the NFC is surprisingly the Green Bay Packers, but they might be on upset alert in one of two Monday night games this week as they visit the New York Giants.
Green Bay is a 6.5-point favourite to win on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Not sure why the NFL had two Monday night doubleheaders earlier this season and staggered the start times but is not doing so here with Packers-Giants on ABC and Titans-Dolphins on ESPN.
New York is playing out the string on a hugely disappointing season and as good as Brian Daboll was in 2022 in winning NFL Coach of the Year honours, he might be on a bit of a hot seat entering 2024 because of how much regression this year. The worst thing the Giants can do really is win a few games the rest of the way and hurt their chances of a Top 3 pick in the 2024 draft. They would pick sixth as of now.
Green Bay looked dead in the water after a 23-19 loss in Pittsburgh in Week 10 to fall to 3-6 but is now 6-6 and holds down the NFC’s final playoff spot via tiebreaker over the fellow 6-6 Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, both of whom should lose in Week 14.
Overall, the Packers are 34-27-2 against the Giants including playoffs and have won five of the past seven as the road team. The teams haven’t played on Monday night since 1983. The played last year at Lambeau Field and New York was a 27-22 upset winner, but neither QB who played in that London matchup will play Monday with Daniel Jones hurt and Aaron Rodgers gone.
Green Bay Packers
About a month ago, it looked as if Green Bay might have to take a quarterback high in the 2024 draft as Jordan Love had been struggling, but he has been spectacular in the team’s three-game winning streak and it’s not like the Packers are beating up cupcakes: LA Chargers in Week 11, at Detroit in Week 12 and a 27-19 home upset of defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City this past Sunday. Love was vastly better than two-time MVP Patrick Mahomes in completing 25 of 36 for 267 yards and three scores and has eight TDs and no interceptions during the streak. Top wideout Christian Watson caught two TD throws vs. the Chiefs but injured his hamstring. He hasn’t been ruled out as of this writing and the extra day can only help. No. 1 running back Aaron Jones missed his second in a row with a knee injury and is questionable. He has simply not been able to stay on the field this year and ruined many fantasy teams.
New York Giants
New York comes out of its bye week on a two-game winning streak as undrafted free agent rookie QB Tommy DeVito, from New Jersey, has injected a bit of life into a staid offence that wasn’t playing well even when starter Daniel Jones was healthy. DeVito has been named the starter for the rest of the season even though original No. 2 and veteran Tyrod Taylor, a capable player, has returning from injured reserve. Because he has missed the minimum four games on injured reserve, top tight end Dareen Waller is eligible to be designated for return at any point, but the Giants may not do it this week. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence hasn’t played since Week 11 and remains iffy. Lawrence had been playing at a Pro Bowl level. Pro Football Focus has Lawrence as its overall highest-ranked interior defensive lineman.
