Bills vs. Lions Point Spread: NFL Week 12 Odds, Prediction
Buffalo is a 9.5-point favourite on the NFL odds.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
One thing the Bills and Lions have in common: Neither has won a Super Bowl. That won’t change for Detroit this season but might for Buffalo.
Detroit has hosted the first game on Thanksgiving for many years and will never give that up without a fight. Some seasons, it’s the only guaranteed sellout. The Lions are well under. 500 on the holiday and haven’t won a game on it since beating Minnesota in 2016. Buffalo will play on the holiday for a third time in four seasons, which is very unusual for a non-Detroit/Dallas team. Last year, the Bills won 31-6 in New Orleans.
The Bills have won the past three in this series, last 14-13 at home in Week 15 of the 2018 season. Josh Allen was a rookie then and threw for 204 yards and a TD. Matthew Stafford was still the Detroit QB.
The underdog is 4-1 against the spread in the past five meetings. The under is 5-0 in those.
Buffalo Bills
Buffalo should feel pretty comfortable at Ford Field because the Bills’ game on Sunday was moved from Buffalo to Detroit due to a massive snowstorm. They beat Cleveland 31-23 to end a two-game skid. The Bills scored on all five second-half possessions. Josh Allen threw for 197 yards and a score to Stefon Diggs, and the team rushed for 171 yards. Tyler Bass made all six field-goal attempts. It was Bass’ second career game with six field goals made, tying four others for the most such games in NFL history. Pass-rusher AJ Epenesa left with an ankle injury and likely won’t play here. He has 3.5 sacks. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds didn’t play due to a groin issue. Buffalo is 6-1-1 ATS in its past eight vs. teams with a losing record.
Detroit Lions
The Lions won their third in a row Sunday, 31-18 at the New York Giants in an upset – the team’s first three-game winning streak since November 2017. Jamaal Williams ran for a career-high three touchdowns. Defensive end and Rookie of the Year contender Aidan Hutchinson, the No. 2 overall pick in the draft in April, intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble to help set up 14 points. Jared Goff and the Lions’ offence didn’t have a turnover for the second straight game. Cornerback Jeff Okudah left with a concussion and won’t play here. The team designated receiver Jameson Williams (knee) to return from injured reserve, but he probably won’t take the field until at least Week 13. Williams suffered a torn ACL in January during Alabama’s national championship game against Georgia. The Lions are 7-2 ATS in their past nine at home.
