Seattle Storm vs. Atlanta Dream Odds: WNBA Preview and Prediction

This marks the fourth and final meeting of the season between these two, and so far, the road team has dominated the matchup. However, I expect that streak to end here.

The Dream, sitting at 21-11 and riding a six-game heater, are firmly in the WNBA’s top tier, while the 16-17 Storm have gone from fringe contender to team in freefall. Rhyne Howard, fresh off another big night, will look to close out the season series in style.

Storm vs. Dream WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

Atlanta is once again a modest 1.5-point favourite on the WNBA odds board, which is identical to Wednesday’s line in Seattle. The Dream are 6-0 in their last six and a perfect 5-0 in August, winning those games by margins of 23, 16, 21, 8, and 10. The Storm? They’re a brutal 0-6 this month, though they’ve kept most losses close.

Atlanta owns the league’s best rebounding rate, while Seattle ranks second-last. The total for this one sits at 161.5, and with the Dream being the better team dictating a more methodical pace, the Under has real appeal.

Seattle Storm

Seattle’s August slide has been painful – from 16-11 and pushing for a top-four seed to 16-17 and barely hanging onto playoff positioning. Brittney Sykes’ arrival (via trade) from Washington brings a scoring boost (15.4 PPG pre-trade, 27 points against the Sparks), but the Storm’s interior defence and rebounding woes remain glaring. Nneka Ogwumike continues to be the engine, averaging 18.2 points and 7.3 rebounds, and Skylar Diggins still orchestrates at a high level. However, the lack of a physical guard who can match up with Rhyne Howard is a serious problem.

Atlanta Dream

Atlanta has been rolling, even without point guard Jordin Canada, who remains sidelined. In her absence, Allisha Gray (19 PPG) and Rhyne Howard (16.3 PPG) have taken turns torching opponents. Howard dropped 33 in the first meeting with Seattle and 25 more on Wednesday. The Dream’s frontcourt is a strength, with Brionna Jones and Brittney Griner combining for muscle inside. Their ability to clean the glass and score efficiently from both inside and deep makes them one of the most balanced offences in the league. At home, they’re 10-4 with a +6.3 point differential.

WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Storm vs. Dream?

This is an awful spot for Seattle. The Dream are deeper, more physical, and perfectly built to exploit the Storm’s defensive soft spots in the paint. Expect Atlanta to control tempo, dominate the boards, and create extra possessions with second-chance looks. Rhyne Howard’s size and skill remain a mismatch, as she’s got 58 points in two games against the Storm this year and should feast again at home.

Atlanta will pick up back-to-back wins in what should be a low-scoring affair. Back the Dream and the Under this Friday.

Best Bet: Dream -1.5 and Under 161.5

Final Score Prediction: Dream 83, Storm 76
